Avowed breaks the RPG mold in a few ways, and one of the most exciting is that you're not limited in what weapon types you can equip, allowing you to make your own class based on which weapons feel best to you. The weapons you start with are, of course, pale imitations of the power of weapons later in the game, and finding these powerful armaments will augment the build you craft as you level up. Choose weapons that complement the strengths of your chosen skills while also covering your weaknesses in combat.

Despite not limiting players via a strict class system, it is best to pick skills from one or two classes rather than trying to "Jack of all trades, master of none," a build for yourself. Consider your own playstyle as well as the things you find most troubling about combat in the game when picking your skills. I, for one, can't seem to find my rhythm in melee combat, meaning ranged options like Grimoires, Wands, and Bows work well for me. That being said, a strong sword is still a better choice than a weak bow, no matter your preference, so keep an eye out for these powerful weapons as you explore the Living Lands.

10 Minoletta's Conduit

This Wand's Range Increases Your Distanced Damage

Minoletta's Conduit in Avowed

For a game with enemies like the ones in Avowed, many of whom will run at you regardless of the taunting of your allies, being able to deal with enemies before they reach you can be the difference between life and death. Minoletta's Conduit has an additional 30% range boost, making it ideal for cutting down targets before they can close the gap. Aim for leagues away, leveraging the power of this wand and its boosted attack stats.

One of three Unique wands in Avowed, Minoletta's Conduit can be purchased from Wizard multiclass build. Alongside its excellent range and additional attack, Minoletta's Conduit also deals an extra 10% Shock Damage on a hit.

9 Last Light Of Day

One-Handed Burn Infliction, Plus Healing

For melee-focused players, Last Light of Day allows you to put out continuous Fire Damage while also staying in the fray longer, thanks to its intrinsic healing. With this Sword equipped, you'll get 3% of your Max Health back on enemy kills. While 3% isn't a lot, it can give you the extra time you need for one last swing while in intense combat. Particularly in combat with groups of smaller enemies, being able to keep swinging is a huge boon when you're out of healing potions.

This Sword is obtained if you make a certain choice during the "Dawntreader" side-quest, wherein you'll need to either convince Sargamis to sacrifice himself or kill him. Whether you best him in combat or witness his ultimate sacrifice, you can pick up this Sword from his body once you're done. Note that you can place the shard in the statue and still choose to kill him, so make whichever choice makes the most sense for you roleplay-wise.

8 Sheathed In Summer

You Can Dual Or Solo Wield This Fire-Focused Dagger

Sheathed In Summer location in Avowed

If you enjoy the Fire Damage that Last Light Of Day offers, you can combo it with the Sheathed In Summer Dagger, which offers additional Fire Damage through Fire Accumulation. You can grab this dagger from the Godless Ruins in the area northwest of Paradis. Here, you'll need to beat Octav the Firebrand in combat, after which you can gather Sheathed In Summer from their corpse.

This Dagger, like the rest of its archetype, offers fast attacks but poor return on investment when blocking, meaning you'll need to be especially confident in your dodging skills if you're going to dual wield with it. For those confident in their ability to dance in and out of melee range, this Dagger offers a 10% bonus to Fire Damage. Its Bonus, Glimmering Embers, causes moderate Fire Accumulation on a Full Combo Attack. Time your strikes well and burn your enemies to death.

7 Anextli's Grimoire

More Fire Magic, Plus Two Interesting Wizard Spells

Anextli's grimoire location in avowed

Anextli's Grimoire arrives in your hands after witnessing a magical mishap near Dehengen's Cottage. As you might guess, this Grimoire contains a Fan of Flames spell, Arcane Veil, and two more unique spells. Grimoire Snap is an AoE shockwave that deals Explosive damage as well as Stun, and Missile Salvo is a stronger version of Magic Missile that seeks your foes.

Thankfully, no grand battle is necessary to pick up this Unique Grimoire, and it can be obtained early in the game. From Dehengen's Cottage, head east across the bridge, then turn north and follow that bridge. Turn right after the bridge, then take another right, jumping up the platform and heading left up the following hill. At the top of the slope, take a right, and you'll hear a commotion caused by a Crazed Pyromancer, who will immolate, leaving their Grimoire behind for you to pick up.

This is just one example of how important exploration is in Avowed. If you stick to the main quest markers, you'll lose out on items, lore, and general gameplay.

6 Izmalt's Meteoric Apparatus

Despite a Slow Fire Rate, This Arquebus Deals Heavy Damage

Izmalt's meteoric apparatus location in avowed

Izmalt's Meteoric Apparatus is one of a few Unique Arquebuses in Avowed, and it truly lives up to its name, dealing astronomical damage with each hit. It deals ~430 Physical DMG, ~360 Stun, and causes Fire Accumulation to nearby enemies on kill. While it takes a while to get a shot off, you're set for most fights once you do. Particularly for the smaller scraps, this hefty two-hander will have no problem one-tapping enemies.

To pick up Izmalt's Meteoric Apparatus, head to Shatterscarp, specifically towards Thirdborn. To the right of the entrance is a vendor in the Leviathan Market called Kampeki at the Fish in a Barrel shop, who can sell it to you for a good amount of money. As it's found later in the game, you should have some cash saved, but if not, you'll need to explore and grind a bit to afford this Unique Weapon.

5 Ancient Alacrity

For Rangers, Or Anyone Who Likes Crowd Control

Ancient Alacrity is an interesting weapon with an even more interesting bonus. On hit, enemies are slowed by 15% for five seconds. While this doesn't seem like a lot, your Power Attacks will also give you a 20% bonus to move speed for five seconds, exponentially increasing your ability to escape foes. As mentioned earlier, enemies in Avowed tend to beeline for you, so a weapon that allows you to catch your breath is welcome.

After fighting Sibelius in the Solace Lava Tubes of Galawain's Tusks, you can pick up the bow from a locked door on your way to the Garden. After you fight Sibelius, you'll see that behind him are a series of doors that can be opened. The bow can be found in the door to the left. While bows are pretty inconsistent for melee and mid-range combat, this bow will prevent melee entirely by allowing you to remove your enemies before they even reach you.

4 Caeroc's Pride

Shock Buildup Plus The Benefit Of Range

Caeroc's Pride is one of the most enjoyable Blunderbuss in Avowed, but you can also get it relatively early on, making it a campaign-long companion for any player. It deals high Shock Accumulation and a respectable ~70 DMG at its base level. Alongside its Shock Accumulation, it also deals Shock DMG thanks to Shocking Lash, which adds another 10% bonus damage to your hits.

You can pick up Caeroc's Pride on a medium-sized island in Dawnshore called Ondra's Reach. It's almost directly east of The Catch, but you can't just walk up to it. First, you'll need to defeat Tempestuous Luandi and loot his body, but thankfully, this fight shouldn't be too difficult. Succeeding here will see you adding a powerful Shock weapon to your arsenal to serve you well for the rest of the game.

3 Hel's Tongue

This Greatsword Shows The Power Of Balance

Hel's Tongue location in avowed

Not only are you balancing the elements of fire and ice with Hel's Tongue, but you're also balancing melee and magic combat. Hel's Tongue deals 10% extra Fire Damage to foes over 50% health and Ice Damage to foes under 50% health, which adds an elemental advantage to all of your attacks no matter the enemies' health. Alongside this bonus comes a pretty significant amount of mana restoration, with Power Attacks restoring 10% of your max Essence.

This weapon works well for Fighter/Wizard players who want to dip a toe into both worlds. Use your Grimoire and Wand of choice to deal magical damage, then swap to this monstrous two-handed Greatsword to deal melee damage and regain the Essence you need to start casting again. If this appeals to you, look for this Greatsword on the Twin Offerings Overlook, past the Xaurip Chief Grithin Bounty target.

2 Od Caura's Grimoire

Requiring Mastery Rank 3, But Comes With A Neat Spell

Od Caura's Grimoire stats in avowed

To fully take advantage of Od Caura's Grimoire, you'll need to be at least Mastery Rank 3. With this rank, you'll unlock the ability to use the Pull of Eora spell. This spell creates a tear in the Beyond, pulling two nearby enemies into a vortex and suspending them in the air for a time.

While crowd control isn't always the best way to approach a fight, it can make enemy-dense fights easier to manage, allowing you to deal with the enemies at your own pace.

Od Caura's Grimoire can be picked up in the Emerald Stair region, in the Pargrun Cache area of the Wildwoods. You'll need to enter the ruins through the opening on the right (to the north) and then head down the stairs there. Underneath, you'll see a locked door that can be opened using a lightning spell. Once it's been opened, head to the left to find more enemies have spawned, then open another lock using lightning again. On the other side will be a chest with the Grimoire inside.

1 One Last Trick

You Like Bullets? We've Got Bullets

One last trick arquebus stats in avowed

One Last Trick has the potential to be one of my favorite weapons in Avowed, thanks to its Ricochet perk. This perk allows the bullets you fire to hit an additional enemy within a certain range, similar to Destiny 2's Khvostov Exotic weapon. Combined with Gunnery's extra 20% reload speed, this means you're hitting exponentially more enemies with each hit.

Make sure to pick up One Last Trick before you complete the "The Animancy Method" main quest, or else the side quest attached to "The Steel Resolve" will be marked as failed, and you'll miss the weapon.

To pick up One Last Trick, complete the "The Steel Resolve" side quest at the Ranger Headquarters in the Emerald Stair. You should either talk to Ranger Captain Acierno at the Headquarters to start it or free him during the Trantons Bounty later on. No matter how you get this or any of Avowed's best weapons, they will serve you well as you traipse across the Living Lands.
