The characters from Bridgerton have already captured the love of fans in season 1, and season 2 has only built on that. The characters are complex, interesting, sometimes frustrating, and most of all, fun to watch. And of course, two seasons are quite enough time for the audience to get a good grasp of who the characters are.

Despite sometimes contradicting themselves, whether it's Lady Danbury manipulating the queen, Violet wanting to marry off her children, or Anthony going on about his duty, they all have moments that are a perfect fit for their personalities. Which quotes truly embody each main character?

Lady Danbury

"Oh, I Do Relish A Challenge."

If Lady Danbury makes anything crystal clear it is that she always has her way in the end. Season 1 was a clear indicator of that and season 2 was no different. She is not even intimidated by the queen, offering her advice or even slightly manipulating her into making a choice on who the diamond of the season is, which proves them to be one of the best relationships on Bridgerton.

Judging by her personality, if anything, an obstacle just makes it so much more satisfying when she gets what she wants, and a challenge is simply an added element of entertainment for her. This quote is very in line with exactly who she is.

Queen Charlotte

"Perhaps She Realized Taking On Her Queen Was A Bad Idea, And She Will Never Publish Again."

One thing that has become obvious about this interesting character is that Queen Charlotte desires to be popular and simply the best at anything. Lady Whistledown presents a challenge to her, which she isn't used to, being the queen. It angers her that she doesn't know who Lady Whistledown is, and therefore cannot punish her.

On a deeper level, this could be connected to the fact that she's desperately grasping at control, ruling on her own while her husband's illness progresses.

Portia Featherington

"Oh, I Already Have A Team. They Are Three Young Ladies, Often Nettling And Contrary, But They Are Mine."

Though at times unlikable, Lady Featherington is one of the most interesting characters on the show. She shares the goal of Violet Bridgerton, which is to make great matches for her children. Since the family is struggling financially, she needs to do some questionable things to ensure her family's future.

This quote proves that above all, Lady Featherington is a mother lioness who will stop at nothing to protect her daughters, even if that means breaking some rules and morals.

Violet Bridgerton

"This Is The Season The Viscount Intends To Find A Wife."

It's no secret that Violet Bridgerton wants to marry off her children rather badly. After successfully finding a good husband for Daphne (which was also a love match), she is delighted to find out that Anthony is finally taking his duty to his family seriously.

In one quote, she sums up her entire character - a mom, desperate to see her children as happily married as she once was.

Edwina Sharma

"You Have Spent So Much Of Your Time Shining Your Light On Me. It Is Time For You To Shine All On Your Own."

Charithra Chandran as Edwina Sharma in Bridgerton

Despite being portrayed as clueless and at times a bit stubborn and rash, Edwina has a good heart, and the audience knows it. Even if she did not deal with the tumultuous events in her life with the most grace, she did take control of her life back and found it in herself to forgive Kate.

This is why this quote, in which she reminds Kate that she is a bright light that can shine on her own and that she is so much more than just her big sister, is very much in line with who Edwina is.

Daphne, The Duchess Of Hastings

"It Should Not Be A Luxury, But A Right To Choose, To Fight For The Family That You Want."

If Daphne was a naive girl in season 1, a more mature Daphne makes an appearance in season 2. Boldened by the experience her marriage and motherhood have given her, she dishes out valuable advice to her family , most of whom are not that willing to listen.

This line was important because it is reminiscent of the moments in season 1 when Daphne worked for the family she wanted. When she fought for Simon to let go of the past and return the love she unconditionally gave. Standing up and fighting for the family is everything Daphne stands for, and almost marrying Nigel Berbrook for the sake of the Bridgerton family is the best proof of that.

Eloise Bridgerton

"I Am Not Daphne."

Eloise at the print shop in Bridgerton.

If Eloise has made anything clear, it is that she is nothing like her sister. As a matter of a fact, Eloise often gives off the vibe that she doesn't like her sister very much because of how different her aspirations are. Where Daphne chose to marry and have children, Eloise can't imagine a worse fate.

Whether she wants it or not, she is burdened by the expectations everyone has, especially after Daphne had such a successful season and married a Duke. Reminding everyone that she is her own person and not her sister is something very in character for Eloise this season.

Penelope Featherington

"When You Are Invisible, You Have All The Amusement You Want Without Any Of The Expectations Popularity Brings. It Frees You."

Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton

Penelope as a character was very much at the forefront of the second season. The audience could get some behind-the-scenes of her Lady Whistledown operation, which was just one of the reasons Bridgerton's season 2 is better than season 1. Penelope could be seen gathering information, eavesdropping, and producing the Lady Whistledown paper.

She was only able to do this because nobody really paid attention to her. She was invisible, and she knew it well. This line perfectly sums up the situation she's found herself in.

Kate Sharma

"I Take Issue With Any Man Who Views Women Merely As Chattels And Breeding Stock."

Kate Sharma looking haughty in Bridgerton

Kate is a wonderful character, never afraid to speak her mind, even when staying quiet would be the smarter option. This is just one of the reasons she is beloved by fans. So after overhearing Anthony's crude comments about his future viscountess, nobody was really expecting her to stay quiet.

In one of the best Kate Sharma quotes in season 2 of Bridgerton, Kate shows the audience that misogyny was intolerable to many, even if that perspective differed from the contemporary standards.

Anthony Bridgerton

"This Is The Duty I Must Fulfill."

Violet and Anthony with other of the Bridgerton family

Anthony talks much about his duty. It's no surprise, considering he was so young when his father died and the burden of the entire family fell onto him. It's also repeatedly seen that his mother wants him to start taking things more seriously.

And truly, season 2 of Bridgerton is full of Anthony talking about his duty to marry, even though he's opposed to marrying for love. Slowly, the season unravels and reveals how damaged his father's death left him and how heavy the responsibility really is. Luckily, by the end, he realizes how wrong he was.
