Over the past eighty years since his WWII debut, Captain America has remained largely unchanged. Steve Rogers was created as a symbol of justice, freedom, and doing the right thing—values that still define him today. However, an comic is set to reveal a new side of Captain America.
Captain America has donned many different uniforms over the years, both in the comics and the MCU. One of his most popular outfits—the navy blue stealth suit—debuted in the 2014 film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Unlike his classic Stars and Stripes-based uniforms, which typically feature some variation of a cowl or helmet, the stealth suit sports a single silver star on the chest with three matching silver stripes on either side. This darker, sleeker design enables Steve to carry out covert operations without drawing too much attention as a world-famous superhero.
Chip Zdarsky's New Captain America Series Unveils Steve Rogers’ Bold New Look

Eleven years after the stealth suit debuted in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, an comic series is bringing back a variation of the tactical outfit. The recently announced Captain America series—written by Chip Zdarsky with art by Valerio Schiti—is set to debut in July. Upon the announcement, Schiti’s promotional designs were released, giving fans a sneak peek at the new outfits the comic has in store for Steve Rogers. Schiti’s stealth suit differs from the MCU version in a few key and exciting ways.
The stealth suit in Zdarsky and Schiti’s Captain America comic appears to be composed of two pieces—dark black, Army-esque cargo pants and a lighter blue long-sleeved top with attached tactical gloves. Steve’s boots match the light blue of the top, with hints of red embellishments that are incorporated throughout the rest of the suit. The star on his chest is dark black with a red outline, presumably allowing Steve to be less visible under the cover of darkness. Topping off the look is a blue helmet that leaves only the lower portion of his face visible.

Captain America's New Stealth Suit Signals a Shift Toward More Clandestine Missions
Captain America #1 Will Be Available on July 2, 2025!
Valerio Schiti’s design for Captain America’s new stealth suit is both sleek and aesthetically pleasing. The dark shades of the uniform provide Steve with an advantage in covert missions, allowing him to sneak up on enemies rather than charging in headfirst. Schiti pays homage to Cap’s helmets throughout the years by incorporating the winged design etched onto either side of the helmet while eliminating the prominent wings that stick out on other versions. When viewed side-by-side, this sleek new design stands in contrast to Schiti’s classic Captain America uniform.
This new look for Captain America has significant implications for the plot of the series, raising the question of whether Steve’s actions will be more covert than usual. With the announcement of Zdarsky’s series, it was revealed that the story will take place during a time period in Steve’s history that has not yet been explored. Captain America will focus on Steve’s time after emerging from the ice but before he ed the Avengers, depicting him as he adjusts to his lost years and re-enters the battle, this time against a young Doctor Doom.
CAPTAIN AMERICA #1 will be available July 2, 2025, from Marvel Comics!
