What is the so-called "Butthole Cut" of Cats bombed at the box office, making only $6.5 million domestically in its opening weekend.

Cats was so infamously awful that it attracted a cult following similar to the one that developed around The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with audiences attending the movie just to sing along with the songs and make fun of its nonsensical plot and terrible production values. More recently, Cats won six Razzie Awards out of the nine nominations it secured, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay.

Recently, rumors began to circulate on-line that Howard The Duck series. Waz claimed, in a Twitter conversation regarding the making of Cats, to have a VFX producer friend who was brought in to work on the Cats movie one month before its release, whose job was to "remove (the) CGI buttholes that had been inserted a few months before." This led Waz to conclude that there must be a "Butthole Cut" of Cats somewhere, spurring a movement on Twitter to "#ReleaseTheButtholeCut."

Unfortunately, despite the apparent wishes of a great many people, there is no evidence that the Butthole Cut of Cats exists beyond Jack Waz's tweet. Indeed, simple logic argues against the existence of such a thing outside of the minds of furry enthusiasts. It is impossible, given the American tendency toward prudishness regarding nudity, to believe that a major Hollywood studio would ever consider depicting realistic orifices in what was meant to be a work of family entertainment.

The concept of a Butthole Cut of Cats also makes little sense within the context of the film's troubled production. Zack Snyder to release his version of Justice League.
