Dark Horse Comics and Ubisoft are set to expand the world of Assassin's Creed in their latest comic book miniseries, Assassin's Creed Mirage: A Soar of Eagles. The new title, from writer Michael Avon Oeming, artist Mirko Colak, colorist Lauren Affe, and letterer Jimmy Bettancourt, centers on a young Fulad in an adventure that takes place years before the events of Assassin's Creed Mirage. Assassin's Creed Mirage is coming to iOS and iPadOS next month, which is a first for the 17-year-old franchise. Ubisoft's 2023 title saw a return to more of the stealth mechanics that the franchise was originally known for after its focus on larger-scale RPG titles such as Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, telling the origin story of Basim, a character introduced in the latter title who seems likely to have a major role in the franchise going forward.

It's clear to those who have played 2020's Assassin's Creed Valhalla and 2023's Assassin's Creed Mirage that Basim Ibn Ishaq will play a major role in the series going forward. Basim was introduced as a master assassin as part of the Hidden Ones - the group that would go on to become the Assassin's Order - in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, meeting Eivor's Viking clan and offering to help them expand their operations in Norway and England. The series then went back to Baghdad in the year 861 and depicted a 17-year-old Basim's origin story through a smaller, more stealth-focused title in Assassin's Creed Mirage. Here, players followed Basim as he learned new tactics from his mentor Roshan to take down of The Order of the Ancients, a clandestine group pulling the strings across Persia.

While the open-world action series has been longer than a decade and many of the games are relatively iterative upon one another, the most recent batch of projects has been especially strong. Following up the successful trilogy of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla, the most recent entry in the franchise harkened back to an early format and earned plenty of praise for it.

These will not cost players real money, but they are not acquired within the game and must be found elsewhere. Players of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage will soon realize that they will need crafting materials to upgrade their items in the game. These can be found in several different manners throughout the game, but players might not be able to find them consistently, particularly at the beginning of their journey. However, there are consistent methods of finding them, if players know where to look as they traverse the city of Baghdad.

In Assassin’s Creed: Mirage, the final Head of the Order must be found and eliminated to free Baghdad, which turns out to be the former concubine of the Caliphate, Qabiha. Qabiha is a clever woman, and the Palace is well protected when Basim seeks to infiltrate it. Doing so without getting caught will be easier said than done, and once inside the Palace, it is quite challenging to leave it without being followed by every Guard in the vicinity.

Basim's main weapon in Assassin's Creed Mirageis a sword, so it's important for him to wield one that looks good as he slices and dices through the guards of Baghdad. Unlike other recent Assassin's Creed titles, alternative weapons like axes or bow aren't present in the game, meaning that one sword or another will remain equipped throughout the entire game. None of the available blades in Assassin's Creed Mirage are entirely lacking in style, but some are more basic than others, making abandoning less glamorous options once others become available to Basim a good call.
