The Fast and Furious franchise has one of the most confusing timelines ever, with as many new characters introduced per movie as retcons but one short film helps tie things together. It's often difficult to understand how the beginning of a film connects to the end of the previous one, because there's commonly a major time jump and minimal exposition regarding what happened during that time. However, the biggest gap between two movies, and not just temporally, exists between part 4, Fast & Furious (2009), and 2001's The Fast and the Furious, the first movie in the franchise.

I'm concerned that Fast & Furious 11 won't properly resolve Fast X's intense cliffhanger ending. When I initially left the theater after watching Fast X, I was shocked by how much I liked the tenth entry in the long-running series, and was incredibly excited about the eleventh movie. However, as time has gone by, I've grown increasingly more worried about Fast & Furious 11. Since the eleventh film has faced many production delays, I'm now more certain than ever that it won't be able to properly continue the story that was set up at the end of Fast X.

There have been very few updates about this exciting sequel, which is very frustrating given how many great plot lines were set up in Fast X. The film has always been marketed as the “final” movie in this long-running franchise, but even that may not be true anymore.

However, the franchise is all about family, including people not born into it. In addition to Dominic's blood family, there are who Dom basically adopted into his inner circle, all of whom he considers family. When someone s, they seem to be there for life because no one ever stays dead.

Fast & Furious 11will supposedly be the final movie in the long-running franchise, bringing Dom Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) story to an end through his ongoing rivalry with Jason Momoa’s dynamic villain, Dante Reyes. However, although Reyes is one of Fast & Furious’ best villains, it’s still hard to imagine how Dom’s story is ever going to end. He seemingly can’t be defeated, and he’s not displayed any willingness to step back from the game in the recent sequels. If Dante can’t bring Dom’s journey to a close, something else will have to trigger the character’s ending in Fast 11.

The Fast and Furious franchise has gone off the rails, butFast & Furious 11's story could be what it needs to return to its roots. Fast Five is seen by many as the best film in the series, introducing over-the-top action sequences with stars like Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. Since that film, the franchise has accelerated its stunts and ridiculous plots to the point where it's impossible to take these movies seriously anymore. It's hard to believe Fast and Furious used to be about street racing and heists when the characters are traveling to space or skydiving in cars.

2001's The Fast and the Furious birthed one of the most successful action movie franchises, which is going strong, and is set to end after an eleventh movie in 2026, although a twelfth film was also teased and might be in the works. Over the years, the films have become more focused on action, with unbelievable vehicular stunts and human feats of athleticism and strength. Fast & Furious 6 has ridiculous scenes that entirely changed the franchise's outlook, bringing over-the-top action sequences and incoherent plotlines into the mix.

Every Fast and Furious movie introduces a host of new characters, some of whom become recurring characters. Despite Vin Diesel only saying "family" 13 times in the movies, it has become a common running gag for the franchise. Due to the emphasis on togetherness, friendship, family, and loyalty, many of the more fascinating characters introduced in new movies become permanent fixtures. While some of the more prominent recurring characters' pasts have been detailed briefly during their introductions, their backstories deserve more elaborate treatments so their unique abilities and personalities can be explained better.
