While sidekicks in comics tend to suffer bad fates like Jason Todd or better-known anti-hero Bucky Barnes, video game sidekicks tend to be a lot better regarded. While some like Navi in The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time have a legacy of being annoying to audiences, others are fondly ed to this day.   6j6g6e

Red Dead Redemption 2’s world is full of intriguing and minute details that the player will come across as they venture out into the vastness of the South Western United States. There are various cave paintings to discover, treasure maps to follow, murder scenes to investigate, legendary animals to hunt, and wacky side characters that will send the player on wild adventures across the land. Red Dead Redemption 2’s map contains a plethora of side activities to immerse the player even further into the game world such as hunting for food, fishing, and gathering plants to better replenish Health, Stamina, and Deadeye.

At first glance, developer Campo Santo’s 2016 indie sleeper hit Firewatch doesn’t seem like a game ripe for a shared universe or a stealth sequel of any kind. It’s an intimate, self-contained story about a lonely man in the midst of a midlife crisis who retreats to a fire lookout job in the Wyoming wilderness during the summer of 1989. The minimalist emphasis on dialogue, artwork, and voice acting over dynamic gameplay also isn’t one that’s easy to replicate.

Firewatch may not have lit the gaming world on fire when it released earlier this year, but it did benefit from overall positive reviews and an experience uncommon in the mainstream gaming world. The indie game by developer Campo Santo is a blend of a lonely walk through the great outdoors and an intensely concerted effort to explore human nature at its most raw. Firewatch has no combat, no puzzles (other than its unfolding mystery), and almost no human interaction outside the woman on the other side of your walkie-talkie.

The player is told the story of how they meet Julia, and embarrass themselves in front of her by being drunk. Fortunately she is charmed by this, and soon she and Henry are dating.
