Although Link is clearly leading the fight against evil in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it is much less clear what role Zelda herself will play in the title. Zelda took a leading role in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, fighting alongside the Champions and other warriors in an impressive display of martial skill. However, it may be that TOTK will place her in a very different role, quite possibly to the game’s detriment. 52865

Since it seems unlikely that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will use Ganon as a villain, or at least not the only one, there's an overlooked character who could take his place. As Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity isn't a mainline Zelda game, it may be relatively overlooked, especially since the gameplay is rather different. However, one character, Astor, might be an option for filling in the role of villain in Tears of the Kingdom.

The Breath of the Wild sequel The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomcould improve upon an existing Zelda combat feature, but this seems unlikely. As an open-world exploration game, combat was only one aspect of gameplay, as plot advancement heavily relied on 3D platforming, puzzle-solving, and meddling in NPC's daily affairs. Breath of the Wild also had to be playable on both the Nintendo Switch and the Wii U gamepad, further restricting combat control options. The Wii U gamepad's controls resembled those of the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode, but this prevented full utilization of the motion control possibilities for Switch s in tabletop and TV mode.

Hyrule Warriors has been one of the better spin-offs that Nintendo has put out, and a lot of other franchises could benefit from a game in the same vein. Taking familiar characters and giving them a game to show their combat skills in a flashy fashion is a good formula for most series out there. Warriors is a strong series, and plenty of IPs could benefit from their own entry.

Following the release of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, developer Koei Tecmo has a lot it can implement from that game into its next Nintendo-published Warriors game, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. One of the releases coming during Nintendo's busy summer, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is similar to Age of Calamity in a way that sets them apart from their predecessors. Instead of being a celebration of an entire series like the first Hyrule Warriors and Fire Emblem Warriors, Age of Calamity's story, characters and gameplay are directly adapted from Breath of the Wild's gameplay. In a similar vein, Three Hopes will be directly adapted from 2019's Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

The door has been opened for older DLC to come to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack and Nintendo has no shortage of games to choose from. This is because Nintendo embraced the concept of DLC in a new way throughout the Nintendo Switch generation, allowing games to receive significant content updates after launch. Now that Splatoon 2's DLC is in the Expansion Pack, it means that other DLC could be on the way to the service.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, the spin-off to the beloved Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, gave players a new take on Calamity Ganon and the land of Hyrule, but BOTW 2 should be careful what it takes from it. Not only are the two games wildly different genres, but their storylines also diverge quite a bit. Fans have been asking how much of each will be in BOTW 2, and hopefully it'll be a little more BOTW than Age of Calamity.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity could benefit Breath of the Wild 2's story in many ways. The plotline of Age of Calamity introduced a split timeline in which the events of the original BOTW never happened. This could change the way BOTW 2 serves as a sequel to its 2017 predecessor.

Astor, the secondary antagonist of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, meets an untimely end as Calamity Ganon’s pawn, but could influence Breath of the Wild's sequel in some form or another. After his defeat at the hands of Link, Zelda, and the Champions, Astor is absorbed by Malice and used to incarcerate Calamity Ganon in a monstrous humanoid form. However, as Hyrule Warriors split the Zelda timeline and created another alternative future, it’s unclear whether or not this servant of Ganon will make another appearance in the franchise.

DLC 2 for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity's Expansion is now available to purchase via the Nintendo eShop. Age of Calamity's Expansion Wave 2, also known as "Guardian of Remembrance," counts as the second paid DLC offering for the Omega Force-developed hack-and-slash adventure.
