Now, thanks to one of DC Comics’ best artists, Silver Surfer takes a trip into the unknown in a viral animation that teases what could be in store for this cosmic hero in the MCU.

Some Marvel Comics heroes get love stories for the ages, romances that absolutely shatter your heart by the time the comic comes to an end. Such is the case for the Silver Surfer in Dan Slott, Michael Allred, and Laura Allred's Silver Surferseries - at least in my expereince as a reader.

The Sentinel of the Spaceways that Marvel Comics calls the Silver Surfer has long been one of the publishers most beloved and most powerful characters. Imbued with the Power Cosmic by Galactus himself, the Devourer’s former herald has since used his considerable might to atone for the countless worlds he helped his master consume.

The Silver Surfer’s story in Marvel Comics is notably tragic and utterly depressing, as he was forced to give up his humanity and serve a world-devouring cosmic monster to save his planet. Norrin Radd is directly responsible for the deaths of countless life forms across the universe, and that’s something he’s going to have to live with for the rest of his life. However, as tragic as Silver Surfer’s story is, he doesn’t have the most depressing storyline in Marvel Comics, as that honor goes to an X-Men hero who no one re (literally).

Marvel Comics has no shortage of tragic characters, most of whom make up the greatest heroes in the entire universe, and the Silver Surfer is no exception. In fact, it’s fair to say that Norrin Radd might have the saddest story in Marvel history. Not only is his origin tragic, but the Surfer also experienced a heart-wrenching story of cosmic proportions - one few other characters could even fathom.

The Silver Surfer is easily Galactus’ most well-known Herald, though that shouldn’t suggest he’s the most powerful. Norrin Radd was the first Herald of Galactus readers were ever introduced to, and even after he left Galactus’ side, Silver Surfer went on to become a major cosmic powerhouse in his own right. However, when considering Galactus’ strongest Herald of all time, Silver Surfer doesn’t even come close.
