After having no prior experience with the series, I'm in the middle of playing Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and it's not at all what I expected, which has turned out to be a nice surprise. Like a Dragon: Ishin! is slated to release in early 2023, and developer Rya Ga Gotoku Studio has revamped some of the game's mechanics. One of these changes is the inclusion of Trooper Cards in all gameplay, acting as various power-ups for players. Previously, these cards were only included in Like a Dragon: Ishin!'s Battle Dungeons. Some of these cards will feature the likeness of real-life celebrities who are fans of the Like a Dragon series, including actor Rahul Kohli.

Like a Dragon 8 has officially been announced, and a few characters are already set to return in the new title in the Yakuza series. The series currently has the wind at its back after the successful Yakuza: Like a Dragon, with 8 as well as two other games announced in development. The strength of Like a Dragon 8's returning cast already casts a good sign for the future.
