Amanda Halterman. The three older siblings have come into the fold as the series has gained traction, and they now all have their own storylines and dynamics with their siblings on the show.
1000-lb Sisters was originally about the weight loss and bariatric surgery journeys of Tammy Amy, but it has expanded to include those same journeys involving Misty, Chris, and Amanda. Moreover, the siblings' often contentious and complicated relationships, as their collective and individual health waxes and wains, has become an anticipated part of the show. Perhaps the biggest drama on the show has come from Tammy herself, as her volatile reputation precedes her. However, that narrative seems to be shifting, and her social media activity is proof of her damage control.
Tammy Has Been The 1000-Lb Sisters Villain Until Now
"Queen Tammy"
In the early seasons of 1000-lb Sisters, Tammy was not yet approved for bariatric surgery, and her poor eating and lifestyle habits ran rampant in her life. Tammy had a slew of health problems as the result of her extreme size, and she was unable to be independent and make good decisions about her health. As Amy got approved for bariatric surgery well before Tammy and went on to lose significant weight, Tammy felt left behind. She fell into partying, vaping, and over-eating as a crutch, and it led her to almost lose her life.
After that wake-up call, Tammy was able to lose weight with the help of an in-patient weight loss rehab. She went on to be approved for bariatric surgery, was able to return home after continued rehab success, and she has gone on to lose over 500 pounds. However, throughout Tammy's weight loss journey from beginning up until season 7, Tammy's attitude was just as loud as the health problems she had to overcome. Dubbed by herself and her family, "Queen Tammy," Tammy has often shown an ugly side of herself.
Tammy has come across as unappreciative, unable, and downright mean at times. Tammy would often snap at her siblings when things weren't going her way, and she tended to make most situations about her. One example was during the attempted family vacation to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Tammy got scared of the accessible ramp to their lodging and then refused to participate in the weekend at all, instead choosing to stay in a hotel and leave early. Tammy had villainized herself with her demeanor and behavior, but that's changed in season 7.
Tammy's Been Getting A Positive Edit In Season 7
She Was Approved For Skin Removal Surgery
There has been a notable difference in Tammy's edit and attitude in 1000-lb Sisters season 7. Her storyline this season has revolved around her hope of getting skin removal surgery, as well as her approval for it and subsequent surgery and recovery. Within that arc, Tammy has taken on a more soft-spoken, reflective, and empathetic tone, and that has shone through in the edit she's received. Tammy didn't come in hot with a chip on her shoulder, a need for attention, or her usual sharp edge in season 7.
Instead, she has taken a backseat to the drama of her siblings, and shown up to be their er as well as a positive advocate for herself. Tammy has shown a vulnerable side this season that viewers haven't seen to this degree, as her skin removal surgery is a big deal with a lot of potential risks. Aside from the positive edit she's getting on-screen, Tammy seems to be backing that up with her social media behavior in order to change her perception.
Tammy Is Interacting With Fans & Promoting Reality TV Hopefuls
Tammy Is Using Her Platform For Good
Before her life-changing surgeries, Tammy had been known to post shameless filtered selfies on her Instagram , and she used her social media to inflate herself. Tammy's confidence, attitude, and poor lifestyle choices used to be center stage of her social media s, as she and Amy became famous originally as YouTubers and content creators. However, Tammy's Instagram and TikTok s have taken hard pivots in how she portrays herself and seemingly wants to be understood and be there for her fans.
Tammy has been promoting TV hopefuls, the Hillbilly Hoosiers, as they attempt to become recognized for a Trailer Park Boys-like show. She is using her platform to one of her favorite content creators, and they have been appreciative of Tammy helping them gain recognition with her platform. Moreover, Tammy s her followers and often showcases them with likes on their posts. Oftentimes, Tammy reposts their astonishment and appreciation of her likes.
Tammy is using her platform for good by highlighting the causes and people she connects with instead of sticking with her old habits of self-promotion and deprecation.

Now, as debuted in 1000-lb Sisters season 7, Tammy is dating a woman named Andrea, and she is showcasing their complimentary relationship on TikTok, which has been a good portrayal for Tammy.
Tammy is emoting positivity through her social media on top of being ed by her 1000-lb Sisters season 7 positive edit. Tammy seems to be doing damage control from her past bad reputation and behavior through her social media, and her new show edit is helping that cause. It's interesting that the two parts of her life are coinciding with intention, but it's only helping Tammy's reception and move away from her old persona.
