According to a studio director, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson's last gaming venture, 50 Cent: Blood On The Sand, was originally planned to be a Tom Clancy's name and brand. Nowadays, Ubisoft features numerous video games with the Tom Clancy brand on it; one such game is Rainbow Six Extraction, which is set to release in January 2022.
50 Cent: Blood On The Sand was a third-person shooter developed and released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2009. Set in the Middle East, it revolved around a stolen diamond-encrusted skull which was given to 50 Cent as a form of payment after a concert. Compared to its predecessor, 50 Cent: Bulletproof, Blood On The Sand heavily relied on a cover system, and it included vehicle missions and supernatural boss battles that were set in an urban warzone. The game was positively received upon release and noted as an improvement over Bulletproof, but sadly labeled a commercial failure, leading to the closure of Swordfish Studios in 2010 after only selling 56,000 copies.
In a special interview with another of many Tom Clancy titles, this one based on the Covert-One book series. With Yoemans as the production manager, Swordfish Studios, the company behind the game, worked on the title for over a year, believing that it was going to be released as a Tom Clancy game. Yeomans went on to explain that even though the studio had completed several levels and figured out its gameplay, the publisher, Vivendi Games "threw in a massive curveball" a year later and shifted the game towards the famous rapper, 50 Cent. Another developer who worked on the game, Joel Beardshaw, who re playing demos of the game before the development shift, also stated that the game was scrapped due to Covert-One's TV show being canceled, and because of the financial success of the earlier 50 Cent: Bulletproof.
Though not directly involved with Ubisoft, who holds the Tom Clancy license, this Tom Clancy's Covert-One title is now considered the first game canceled in the series. Another game in 2014, Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Patriots, was canceled in favor of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege. A tactical shooter like the previous installments in the series, it was going to be based in New York City and revolve around an American terrorist organization; the single-player campaign was slated to have the most depth in the series.
All things considered, 50 Cent: Blood On The Sand is ed by players as a fairly standard third-person cover shooter. The rapper has said he would be willing to make a third game if the idea was "unique" enough. The canceled Tom Clancy title, on the other hand, never saw the light of day, but players distressed about its ill-fated cancellation can look forward to newer installments to the series in the future.
