90 Day Fiancé fans to think that their storyline may be scripted. Jen met Rishi while traveling in India, and the two instantly hit it off. After spending only a few days together in person, Jen and Rishi got engaged, and Jen planned to return to India shortly after. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jen and Rishi were forced to maintain a long-distance relationship for two years. Then, Jen received a visa, which made it possible for her to move to India permanently.
While 90 Day Fiancé's Jen Boecher and Rishi Singh have reunited, they've both had difficulties adjusting to Jen's arrival in India. Rishi's family doesn't know that he's engaged to Jen, and he's seemingly not planning to tell them anytime soon. As a result, Jen has to live on her own in a new country, and Rishi's had a difficult time ensuring that Jen's needs are met. Rishi eventually decided to take Jen to meet his family, although he only introduced her to them as a friend. However, 90 Day Fiancé fans from India have noticed several plot holes in Jen and Rishi's storyline, which make them think their scenes are scripted.
Fans Claim Rishi's Family Inaccurately Portrays Indian Culture On TOW
Reddit [deleted] began a thread about the Indian storylines featured on TOW. As someone from India, they noted that they felt the show misrepresented several aspects of their nation's culture. They explained that Rishi's family is not an accurate representation of typical Indian families, after they were shown giving Jen training to be a proper Indian wife. They emphasized that under normal circumstances, Jen would have never been asked to do dishes, as Rishi's mother requested. They added that this was, "extremely rude and would not have happened in a regular situation." They continued, "it's nearly a sin to ask a guest to do something like this."
Jen's Random Conversations With Strangers May Also Be Scripted
Fans also pointed out that, in addition to Jen being treated oddly as a guest, her random interactions with strangers seem scripted. That's because they believe that people in India don't usually tell strangers so much about their personal lives. When Jen first arrived there, she opened up to her driver about her relationship issues with Rishi. One Reddit wrote, "No one talks like that here and people would just be confused and uncomfortable if you start talking about your personal drama to the rickshaw driver." Fans suspect that this scene, as well as others that were similar, were likely scripted by producers to add to the drama.
Jen and Rishi's storyline is confusing to fans for a variety of reasons. Therefore, some suspect that much of their story may be fake, as it does not accurately portray life in India. Rishi's family did not interact with Jen the way that a traditional Indian family would, without knowing the real reason why she was there. This led to talk that the scene was staged. Furthermore, Jen's interactions with other locals, including her taxi driver, also deviated from the Indian norm. Many fans are tired of Jen and Rishi, but want to see how their love story will unfold on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 4.
