Quiet Place universe's alien invasion, and how Sam (Lupita Nyong'o), Eric (Joseph Quinn), and others survive in the early days of a forever changed world.
A Quiet Place Part III is in development and is expected to continue the story of the Abbott family after the events of A Quiet Place Part II, with surviving Day One characters possibly ing the story as well. This does not have to mark the end of the franchise, though. Many of the new characters and reveals in Day One present several spinoff possibilities, with one particular prequel being an exciting direction to take the franchise in.
A Quiet Place: Day One Further Teases The Military's Knowledge Of The Aliens Before The Invasion
The Military Was Already Out In Full Force
When Sam leaves the marionette show and steps out into Manhattan in A Quiet Place: Day One, there are already military planes flying overhead and armored military vehicles racing through the streets. At this point, the aliens had not landed yet, which shows that the military knew they were coming, and were trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to prepare for it.
The armed forces clearly knew the extraterrestrial threat was coming.
Day One is more focused on the personal journeys of Sam and Eric, leaving the military story to be told in a separate prequel. Foreknowledge that something horrific was about to happen in the city even reached the hospice nurse, Reuben (Alex Wolff), who was told to bring Sam and the other patients back and cut their trip short.
He tells her, "Something's happening in the city, and they want us back ASAP." This all occurs before the aliens' arrival, and when they do land, the military already has a presence. The armed forces clearly knew the extraterrestrial threat was coming, even though they were unprepared to effectively combat the aliens and their unique strengths.
A Quiet Place Movie Focused On The Military Would Be Nothing Like The Other Films
It Would Be Different In Of Genre And Scope
A prequel to A Quiet Place: Day One focused on the military would be an interesting break of the mold of the franchise's other installments. It would focus less on the action and fight for survival once the aliens land and instead primarily take place in the time leading up to the invasion. In of genre, it might be more of a science-fiction thriller than horror, as scientists, politicians, and the military clash over how to best prepare for the coming threat and prevent humanity from being annihilated as the meteorites draw ever closer.

A Quiet Place: Why The Monsters Don't Eat The Humans They Kill
In the Quiet Place franchise, the alien monsters don't eat the humans that they kill. We look at why that's important to the future of the series.
The previous Quiet Place movies have all been more personal in their focus on the Abbot family or, in Day One's case, on Sam, Eric, and Frodo the cat. A military prequel story could provide more of a macro view of the world leading up to the aliens coming to Earth and clarify how much was known and what was done to prepare ahead of time. This could answer some of the lingering questions left by A Quiet Place: Day One and provide further backstory.
