Where was coming of age comedy The Social Network.

Adventureland also came out in 2009 with Jesse Eisenberg playing James, a college graduate forced to take a summer job at a rundown amusement park. He soon becomes friends with his oddball co-workers and falls for Em (Kristen Stewart, IT: Chapter Two). Despite receiving warm reviews and becoming something of a cult movie in the years since, it was a box-office disappointment at the time.

Adventureland is based on Greg Mottola's real experiences working in New York's Adventureland amusement park. The park had changed a lot since the director worked there, however, so a more retro location was needed. The park shown in the movie is really Kennywood Park, located in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, which had the old school vibe required for the 1987 set story, though it was altered to make it look way more decrepited.

Most of Adventureland was shot in and around Pennsylvania as a result, though the scene where James reunites with Em after she quits was really shot in Manhattan's Lower East Side. The film also featured an impressive selection of music, including The Cure's "Just Like Heaven," "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House, Lou Reed's "Satellite Of Love" and many more.

Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart would work together two more times following Adventureland, including the 2015 action comedy Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke during a day off from the production in 2007; history knows how well that turned out. Eisenberg's Zombieland also, bizarrely enough, revolved around an amusement park, and the actor recently reunited with the original cast and director Ruben Fleischer for 2019 sequel Zombieland: Double Tap. The sequel proved to be a modest success, so hopefully, fans won't have to wait another decade for Zombieland 3.
