Casting news for the Young Avengers, including Cassie Lang, Kate Bishop, and America Chavez. Other young characters, like Ms. Marvel and Skaar, could also the team.
Marvel has not announced a specific movie or film for these characters to appear in together, but a team-up seems likely in the future as of the regular MCU Avengers team continue to retire and die in action. Meanwhile, Agatha: Coven of Chaos will follow WandaVision villain and witch Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn). Details about the show are scarce, but the announcement that Heartstopper's Joe Locke has been cast in an undisclosed role suggests the show may be connected to the MCU's Young Avengers.
Who Joe Locke Could Be Playing In Agatha: Coven Of Chaos
Not much is known about the story of Agatha: Coven of Chaos, but Agatha is likely to be seeking vengeance against Wanda. She might then target Wanda's children, Billy and Tommy. The twins are also a part of the comic book Young Avengers, known as Wiccan and Speed respectively. It hasn't been clear when or how they could be reintroduced to the MCU considering they were only an illusion in WandaVision and from an alternate timeline in magic of Scarlet Witch.
Why Joe Locke Would Be A Perfect Billy Maximoff/Wiccan
Being slim with dark hair, Locke has the right look for Billy both based on the character's appearance in comics and as a 10-year-old in WandaVision (Tommy is reborn with white hair in the comics). Locke, who is currently 19, would likely be a teenage or young adult Billy who is just coming into his own. Billy is known for being one of the most prominent LGBTQ characters in Marvel and enters a relationship with fellow teammate Hulkling. The two even marry in a milestone comic issue. Locke has already demonstrated his ability to portray the struggles and joys of a gay teenager in his role as Charlie Spring in Heartstopper. If he is playing Billy, around 19 would be the perfect age for the MCU to appropriately explore his sexuality and Locke would be the perfect actor.
The MCU could finally fulfill their promises of better LGBTQ representation if they do bring in Billy/Wiccan, as well as Hulkling (possibly replaced or combined with Skaar, played by 20-year-old Wil Deusner). An actor like Locke, who can be trusted to handle such a role, would be vital to Billy's introduction. And if the twins do return to the MCU for Agatha: Coven of Chaos, it's only a matter of time before the Young Avengers become an official on-screen team.
