Spencer and Olivia may not have gotten back together in the Spencer and Olivia broke up because they were both finding their place in college and growing apart a little. Freshman year is a time of trying new things and adapting to a new environment. It’s hard to keep a relationship strong through all that. It helped that the girls lived together in the Baker house and the boys in the beach house. This, at least, made the vortex strong.
Spencer dated Alicia, but after she saw Spencer and Olivia dancing together for the Black Student Union production, she couldn’t deny the strong feelings that the two still felt. So she took herself out of the equation. Then, Spencer planned a fun day for Olivia to send her off to London for the summer. Spencer was trying to be fair to Liv while she was waiting for him to say something. He finally went to the airport to confess his feelings for her and tell her he’d be there when she returned. They didn’t make anything official, but it’s clear they are on their way back to each other.
6 Spencer And Olivia Had Chemistry From Day One
Spencer and Olivia were quick friends when he started at Beverly Hills High. They had instant chemistry. It appeared that they would get together, but they stayed friends for a while. Layla also took to Spencer quickly, but her approach was more flirty, and they ended up getting together. Then Liv was with Asher. So other relationships kept them a part too. But they were friends through all of it.
Even before they were a couple, Spencer swooped in to be Olivia’s escort for her cotillion when Asher was MIA. And he didn’t even hesitate to protect her when a gun was pointed at them. While he was being wheeled away in the hospital, he didn’t want to leave her. He’s been a protective friend long before they became a couple. And Liv was a mess after seeing Spencer shot. This showed their strong bond even in season 2.
5 Spencer And Olivia Still Love Each Other
Spencer and Olivia confessed their love for each other as Liv was flying off to London. Through everything, this love has stayed strong. It was there when they were friends. It was more than clear when they were together. And even when they were trying to navigate friendship after breaking up, the love stayed strong. They never broke up because they stopped loving each other. They fought to keep their relationship together as long as they did because of that love. And that love is what keeps them coming back.
4 Spencer And Olivia Have Grown Since They Broke Up
As much as fans hated Spencer and Olivia breaking up, it was right that they did. They had some growing up separately to do. Olivia was so focused on her writing. She was missing the other aspects of college. Liv might have never ed the Black Student Union or gotten the opportunity to go to London for the summer if she had stayed with Spencer. Her writing will be even better now that she’s exploring more. And it’s bound to make their relationship stronger too.
After losing Coach Baker, Spencer had to learn how to deal with his anger. That would have made their relationship rocky if he pushed her away while they were together. It was something Spence had to confront by himself. He also had to learn how to lead a college football team. One that has been rocked with controversy and is starting from scratch. It was important for his football career to find his way with his new team. He also neglected Alicia from time to time doing this as well.
3 Spencer And Olivia Never Stopped Being There For Each Other
Even when Spencer and Olivia didn’t know how to be friends, they were still there for each other. Spencer was there for the entire Baker family after Olivia’s decision to reveal herself as Jayden Davis. He was originally not going to attend her award ceremony because he thought it was a family thing, but he went as soon as he found out she wanted him there. He was trying to do what was right for her.
Olivia helped Alicia and Spencer get back together after he had pushed her away when he was grieving. She wanted him to be happy and have the system he needed. That included gathering his mom, brother, D’Angelo, and all of his friends, including Darnell. She made sure he wasn’t alone in his time of grief. He kept trying to her when she lost her father, but she never forgot how much her father meant to him.

Olivia and Spencer have been each other’s biggest ers since they met. Olivia had always rooted for him when he was on the field or when he went back to Crenshaw to his community. Spencer has done the same with Olivia. He still ed her, even when he disagreed with the article she was writing about his coach.

When they were together in their senior year and at the beginning of their first year in college, it was a solid relationship. They didn’t jump into bed right away and really took their romantic relationship slow.
While neither of them knew how to be friends when they broke up, they still managed to be friends. They share many of the same friends, so they were put together in awkward situations often, and they figured it out. This friendship also means that they know each other well. It’s how they know what each other needs. They may have needed that break, but this foundation has helped them through all phases of their relationship. It will help them when she’s in London, and it will help lead them back together in All American.
