The Animal Crossing: New Horizons functionality than the Japanese cards currently offer. While US Animal Crossing players can already use the Japanese versions of these amiibo cards, this will be the first time Nintendo has offered them locally to US residents.

The Sanrio x Aggretsuko. However, when used with Animal Crossing: New Horizons, the amiibo only offer Sanrio posters.

Nintendo states that the amiibo can be used with compatible games, but did not mention whether the release of the cards will also include expanded functionality for the newer entry.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons will likely hold a large in-game event to celebrate its first anniversary, and that could include expanding its cast of villagers. A large number of villagers have ed the franchise's cast of loveable anthropomorphic animals over the years, many of which have been cut from games never to be seen again. If Nintendo plans to add the six Sanrio villagers to Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it would make sense for them to usher in a wave of long-forgotten fan-favorites.

It will be nice for North American gamers to have easier access to the Animal Crossing Sanrio card, but they'll have to decide for themselves if they're worth buying. If all they offer are six in-game posters, then a large number of Animal Crossing fans may skip this round of amiibo cards. However, if Nintendo allows players to redeem the furniture and villagers depicted on each card, they're sure to draw larger interest from the community. Needless to say, six wall posters may not be enough if Nintendo is expecting to sell a large number of the Animal Crossing Hello Kitty amiibo cards.
