Animal Crossing: New Horizons' latest Bunny Day celebration falls on April 17, 2022, coinciding with Easter in the real world, and instead of tossing eggs once it's overs, players should consider holding onto them. For a full week leading up to the event, fans can spend their time collecting festive eggs and DIY recipes. By now, most players are inundated with a surplus of these colorful materials. However, fans are encouraged not to discard their excess Bunny Day eggs because there are many applications beyond just DIY recipes.
During the event, players can find and talk to Zipper T. Bunny. He explains that six different kinds of eggs are hidden around the New Horizons island, and they can be gathered similarly to normal resources. While this is done each year, the first Bunny Day was not well-executed, due to the drop rate for eggs being far too high. This resulted in disgruntled fans, who just wanted to collect fish, rocks, and fossils. New Horizons has since fixed Bunny Day's notorious drop rate, but eggs are still abundant (and not everyone is a fan).
The Easter-themed event features six different types of colorful materials on the island, with some being rarer than others. During this period, players can find Earth, Leaf, Wood, Stone, Water, and Sky Eggs. Fans can gather each kind of egg by digging, shaking trees, hitting trees, striking rocks, fishing, and shooting down Bunny Day ballons respectively. Players that wish to craft every seasonal DIY recipe, must collect all six types of materials. Sky and Water Eggs, by far, are the most common, since they can be farmed endlessly on the island. Luckily, players can make good use of their extra seasonal materials.
Animal Crossing: Benefits of Excess Bunny Day Eggs
Eating Bunny Day eggs for a burst of energy may be one of the best uses of the items, apart from the crafting recipes themselves. Consuming food allows players to easily move large objects, such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons fruit trees. Simply by using a shovel, fans can pick up the entire tree, with the fruit, and place it in their inventory. This is much faster than chopping a tree down, then digging up the stump. Players can also hold a stack of Bunny Day eggs in a single slot, making them extra useful for quick energy while terraforming the island. Eating food is also necessary for breaking rocks, but should be done after gathering the resources. Fans that wish to enjoy Bunny Day after the event could even set up a scavenger hunt on their island for their friends or find other creative uses for them.
While not the most popular event, Bunny Day does feature 22 furniture items, 22 clothing items, a wand, and a craftable fence. Players can also learn 20 seasonal DIY recipes in New Horizons, requiring a total of 202 eggs to craft one of each item. But even for fans that have made everything the event has to offer, Bunny Day in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is an opportunity to stock up on extra food, saving all those piles of fruit for the extra bells.
