As Animal Crossing: New Horizons continues to take the world by storm, many players are sharing their incredible 5-star rated islands, which are nothing short of artwork. Many players spend countless hours decorating and perfecting their islands, all to achieve the highest ratings possible, and the results are simply incredible.
Decorating one’s island is one of the main activities players are able to engage with in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and it’s not only their avatar’s homes that they’re able to customize. Players have options to customize furniture, walls, flooring, and more, but once they reach a certain level, they’re actually able to alter the geography of the island itself.
Achieving a 5-star rated island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is no simple task, nor one that can be completed in a single day. Many players claim to have put hundreds or even thousands of hours into customizing their islands, which is why it’s safe to call their final products works of art.
How Animal Crossing Players Can Create 5-Star Islands
Players are able to begin decorating and customizing from the get-go, but as their island becomes more developed and highly rated, more things become available. In order to manipulate the island’s geography and achieve the creative success some of the most impressive players have, s will need to unlock the Island Designer app. To do this, players must get K.K. Slider to perform a concert on their island, Nintendo Life explains. Players will need Isabelle to give them a 3-star rating before they can invite the musician to their island. She’ll be able to provide an "island evaluation" to let players know what they need to achieve to get the rating. Typically, this involves attracting more guests to one’s island.
Once this is achieved and K.K. comes to play a concert for Animal Crossing: New Horizons' villagers, Tom Nook informs players they have finally unlocked the Island Designer app, and they can get to terraforming. There are endless things players can do through the app, such as add ponds or waterfalls, remove trees, fix cliffs, and build bridges.
The Best Island Designs In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The designs that players have been able to come up with after unlocking the Island Designer app are truly impressive, and it’s not surprising that such beautiful Animal Crossing islands have received 5-star ratings in the process. @lilnativebambi on Twitter shared her island, describing it as a “tiger forest.” In a clip taken from the game, she shows her character running around the island in a tiger mask. Tiny little tigers can be seen amid jungle-like trees and orange poppies.
Similarly, @applebaes went for a mushroom-themed island. Shots from their island taken at night showing glow-in-the-dark mushrooms illuminating their pathway, creating a magical aesthetic. “Lil mushroom garden,” the Twitter described of their design.
Animal Crossing island. “The thousand islands,” she wrote on Twitter, referencing the real Thousand Islands, a group of over 1,800 islands marking the border between New York State and Canada’s Ontario. Using the water scaping and cliff construction feature, the player created a ton of tiny islands along with thick forest trees and much more greenery.
Players don’t only need to focus on the natural landscape. They’re also able to customize their urban areas with things like sidewalks and plants. Players can even choose a different theme and go with it. @PairofCellos opted for a “Zelda-inspired dungeon,” as he explained on Twitter.
Even funkier, @capuchinokappu went for a haunted mansion theme for their island, and it’s a wonder they achieved such a spooky effect. Other themed islands that players have shared include the Wild West, a pirate ship, a golf course, and there’s even one out there that’s somehow ketchup-themed.
The options are truly endless for players when deg their island on Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and such elaborate, detailed creations are nothing short of artwork.
