Right now, fandoms in and out of anime are obsessed with casting characters as “aura farmers”. The term essentially refers to a character who’s so cool that they can generate hype just from standing around, and as the meme has become more popular, it’s always been fun to see which characters will be labeled as aura farmers.
There’s always plenty of fun in labeling characters as aura farmers, and anime is no exception. As anime has grown in popularity, so, too, has its presence in meme culture, and because of that, the aura farming meme has become an easy way of identifying the anime characters that never fail to show off how cool they are in every scene they feature in. A few characters like that are especially worth highlighting, as each one is an easy contender for the coolest character of their show, if not anime, as a whole.

Satoru Gojo is one of the main characters of MAPPA’s Jujutsu Kaisen and Yuji’s primary caretaker at Jujutsu High. As the one who helped put Yuji onto the path of becoming a sorcerer, Gojo takes it upon himself to protect all his students in the hopes of cultivating a new generation that can break free from the restrictions of the past, all of which is possible thanks to the immense power of his Limitless technique and his signature Six Eyes.
Jujutsu Kaisen very quickly established Gojo as the strongest sorcerer of modern day, and sure enough, nearly every scene in Jujutsu Kaisen that features Gojo, whether it’s an action scene or a character-driven one, hammers in how imposing a figure he is underneath his goofiness. Gojo’s most famous scene has him recite a line comparing himself to the Buddha, and the fact that he earns that arrogance can’t be denied.

Kamina is someone who always tries to make himself feel larger than life with his bravado and imioned speeches, and while he doesn’t always have the power to back it up, Kamina’s unbelievable charisma has always sold him as one of the coolest characters in Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Even after his death, Kamina maintains an incredible presence over Simon and the rest of the cast, and few anime characters have ever succeeded at doing that to such a degree.

As the reincarnation and son of the evil King Piccolo, Piccolo initially sought to continue his father’s work, but the threat of the Saiyans forced him into an alliance with the Z Warriors, and after bonding with Gohan, Piccolo had a change of heart and became one of Earth’s strongest defenders.
As one of the most prominent characters in Dragon Ball, Piccolo is almost always involved in the action, and sure enough, nearly every big scene with Piccolo has him posing in some way to show off his power before proceeding to decimate his opponent, with Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero being a major example of such. Piccolo was one of the first anime characters to be labeled as an aura farmer, and overall, it’s easy to see why.

Sung Jinwoo is the main character of A-1 Pictures’ Solo Leveling and a man who was once regarded as the world’s weakest Hunter. After a near-death experience, though, Jinwoo unlocks a mysterious power that allows him to grow stronger through video game-like mechanics, and by mastering that power, Jinwoo goes from the world’s weakest Hunter to the undeniable strongest.
As Jinwoo grows in power, so, too, does his confidence and ability to strike fear into enemies and allies alike, and to illustrate that point, nearly every scene with Jinwoo following his growth in power has him exuding incredible confidence as effortlessly stares down and threatens anyone in his way while always being sure of his victory. As far as anime goes, the aura farming meme has largely been associated with Jinwoo being an aura farmer, and there’s never been a moment when that hasn’t been justified.
6 Roronoa Zoro
Character From Toei Animation's One Piece; Based On The Manga By Eiichiro Oda
Roronoa Zoro is the first mate of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the main characters of Toei Animation’s One Piece. Zoro is a swordsman who dreams of honoring his dead friend Kuina by defeating the legendary Dracule Mihawk and becoming the world’s greatest swordsman, and after two years with the Straw Hats and intense training from Mihawk himself, Zoro has never been closer to achieving his dream than he is now.
As One Piece goes on and Zoro keeps getting into bigger fights, Zoro always finds new ways to show off his incredible power to every opponent he faces without a trace of fear, with the anime almost always taking that even further with how gorgeous his fight scenes look. Zoro is easily one of One Piece’s strongest characters, and fortunately, he always has the presence to justify it.

Escanor is one of the main characters of Studio Deen’s The Seven Deadly Sins, with Escanor given the Lion Sin of Pride. At night, Escanor is a skinny and meek man who can’t even lift his own weapon, but when the sun is up, he turns into a musclebound warrior with incredible power and an equally large ego to match, both of which only get bigger as the day goes on.
Between his incredible feats of strength and the wonderfully cocky attitude to go along with them at every turn, Escanor is a character who perfectly embodies his element of pride to be entertaining specifically because of his arrogance. Many people say that Escanor is the best part about The Seven Deadly Sins, if not the only good part, and with his incredible presence, it’s easy to see why.

Madara Uchiha is one of the original main antagonists of Studio Pierrot’s Naruto. Believing the world to be one doomed by never-ending conflict, Madara sought to bring about eternal peace by trapping all of humanity inside a powerful genjutsu called the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and his plan to bring it about was so intricate that it even had a workaround for his death.
Madara is someone hailed as one of history’s strongest ninjas, and when he makes his proper debut, every scene with him perfectly lives up to that with how easily he shows off his power, with scenes like summoning meteors against the Shinobi Alliance and laughing at how Guy almost killed him being standout examples. The lengths to which Madara goes to show off his power made for some of the best moments in Naruto’s final arc, and overall, he more than lived up to the hype surrounding him.
3 Gilgamesh
Character From The Fate Franchise; Based On The Visual Novel By Type-Moon
Gilgamesh is a recurring character in the Fate franchise, most notably in Fate/Zero and the various adaptations of Fate/stay night. Gilgamesh’s role changes depending on the story he’s in, with him even being an ally in Fate/Grand Order and Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, but no matter the story, he’s always an arrogant person who won’t hesitate to destroy anyone who gets in his way, even his allies.
Gilgamesh’s status as the King of Heroes, along with the power that goes along with it, makes him an incredibly arrogant person, but at the same time, Gilgamesh’s undeniable charisma leaves him as someone who dominates every scene he’s in, no matter how terrible a person he may be. Gilgamesh is rarely ever the main villain, but no matter what role he takes, he’s always the best person to watch in every scene.
2 Sosuke Aizen
Character From Studio Pierrot's Bleach; Based On The Manga By Tite Kubo
Sosuke Aizen was the main antagonist for the first half of Studio Pierrot’s Bleach. While Aizen originally posed as the mild-mannered captain of Squad 5, in reality, he had secretly spent centuries amassing an army of powerful humanoid Hollows called Arrancar to destroy Soul Society and eventually overthrow the Soul King, a plan he came dangerously close to succeeding in.
The second Aizen revealed his true colors, every scene with him depicts him as a cold and calculating villain who always sees himself as being in control, and aside from a few instances, he always has the power to back it up. Even in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, Aizen finds a way to dominate every scene he’s in while bound to a chair, and overall, the coolness of Aizen’s character is always great to watch.
1 Seto Kaiba
Character From Studio Gallop's Yu-Gi-Oh!; Based On The Manga By Kazuki Takahashi
Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters follows Yûgi Muto, a frail youth targeted by bullies, who discovers his alter ego, Yami Yûgi, after completing the ancient Millennium Puzzle. This new persona, embodying the "King of Games," emerges to challenge opponents through mystical "Shadow Games," when Yûgi faces injustice.
- Release Date
- April 18, 2000
- Network
- TV Tokyo, TV Osaka, TVh, TSC
Seto Kaiba is one of the main characters of Studio Gallop’s Yu-Gi-Oh! and Yugi’s main rival. After losing his title as the world’s greatest duelist to Yugi, Kaiba devotes himself to building up power to challenge Yugi again and reclaim his title, and the lengths he goes to for that goal are always nothing but insane to witness.
Kaiba is one of the most prideful and arrogant characters in all of anime, especially in the English dub, but that always translates to an incredible amount of charisma where he always gives bombastic speeches while making cool poses or summoning powerful monsters, and it’s to the point that Kaiba resisted being killed by Diva in Yu-Gi-Oh! The Dark Side of Dimensions by literally being too egotistical to die. It’s hard to imagine Yu-Gi-Oh! without Kaiba’s incredible charisma, and that, without a doubt, makes him anime’s biggest aura farmer.
