The when the original Apple Watch was released in 2015 and, all these years later, they remain one of the best things about fitness tracking on the smartwatch.
While the Apple Watch is marketed as a smartwatch and not a fitness tracker, fitness tracking is one of its strongest features. People can use the Apple Watch to track workouts, monitor heart rate, take an ECG test, and even check their SpO2 levels. It's a seriously impressive array of functionality, making the Apple Watch a compelling device regardless of where someone is in their fitness journey.
At the core of fitness tracking on the Apple Watch are activity rings. These are what s see as soon as they open the Activity app on Apple Watch, with the three rings providing a quick overview of the 's activity for that given day. Apple explains that the red ring stands for Move, which shows how many active calories someone has burned. The more calories that are burned, the more the ring fills up. The green Exercise ring indicates how many minutes of exercise someone has engaged in, while the blue Stand ring represents how often the has stood throughout the day. As long as they move around for at least 1 minute every hour, the ring will keep closing as the day goes on. The goal is to close all three rings by the end of the day, with the rings resetting the next day so people can close them all over again.
How To Change Activity Rings On Apple Watch
Trying to close activity rings every day can prove to be an enjoyable challenge. However, there will likely come a time where people want to change these rings to better suit their needs. Thankfully, doing so is quite simple. Open the Activity app on the Apple Watch, scroll all the way down to the bottom of it, and then tap 'Change Goals.' s are asked to change their Move, Exercise, and Stand goals in that order, with adjustments being made by moving the Apple Watch's Digital Crown or tapping the + and - icons on the screen. Activity ring goals can be changed at any time and however often someone likes, so feel free to adjust these as necessary.
While the progress of activity rings resets every day, s can look back on their progress at any time. Open the Fitness app on the paired iPhone, tap the activity rings near the top of the screen, and then tap the calendar icon at the top-right. This shows a complete history of all previous days someone tracked with their Apple Watch, with s also able to tap on each day to see a more detailed breakdown of their activity.
