It may sound like an odd comparison, but Ghosts Of Mars' Big Daddy Mars. Ghosts Of Mars is a horror/action movie hybrid from 2001, where Ice Cube's convict has to team up with cops Nasthasa Henstridge and Jason Statham to survive a horde of possessed miners. The movie was one of a cycle of movies set on the Red Planet, though it distinguished itself from the likes of Mission To Mars by taking place on a colonized Mars. The John Carpenter helmed film didn't do great business, though it has since become something of a cult favorite.

Zack Snyder's recent zombie heist epic Army Of Thieves being a prequel centered around safecracker Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer) while an anime TV series dubbed Lost Vegas will detail the city's downfall.

On the surface, Army Of The Dead and Ghosts Of Mars may not seem to have much in common, but they're linked in a major way by their main villain. In Army Of The Dead, it's Alpha zombie Zeus who causes the outbreak in Vegas, with the origin of the creature being left vague. Zeus is the King of the zombies, being able to control both the mindless "Shambler" hordes or create other Alphas like himself. He's also played by actor/stuntman Richard Cetrone, who played Big Daddy Mars in Ghosts Of Mars.

Other than sharing the same performer, Ghosts Of Mars' villain has a lot in common with Zeus. They're both the undisputed leaders of their respective hordes - miners possessed by martian spirits, in GoM's case - and are easily the most intelligent. They are both named after mythical gods, they are advanced enough to don body armor and they are formidable fighters, with Zeus besting both Dave Bautista's Ward and Omari Hardwick's Vanderohe, while Ghosts Of Mars' villain gives Ice Cube's Williams a tough fight.

To top it off, they both have terrible teeth. If anyone wanted to create an Army Of The Dead/Ghosts Of Mars shared universe, they could even link Zeus' emergence from Area 51 with Big Daddy Mars' spirit somehow landing on Earth. Of course, there are differences between them. Cetrone's Big Daddy Mars is all about wanton destruction and dominance, while Zeus is shown as capable of love with his Queen, and only turns violent when the heisters attack his clan. Army Of The Dead's dusty setting also gives it a strange Ghosts Of Mars flavor, as does a finale that sees dozens of mindless hordes shot down by machine guns as they stream down narrows corridors, in addition to both movies seeing the heroes outrun a nuclear blast while fighting a Cetrone monster.
