Layla Accesses Eivor's Genetic Memory With Shaun & Rebecca's Help In AC Valhalla

After Layla murders Victoria, her relationship with her previous team goes sour, forcing her to start working with Shaun Hastings and Rebecca Crane, who witnessed Desmond Miles killing Lucy Stillman while being controlled by an Apple of Eden. In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Shaun and Rebecca understand Layla's plight and are willing to work with her, but she has to wear a mood stabilizer on her neck and stay away from the Staff, which is being kept in a container.

Layla is pursuing a lead from a mysterious audio that gives them coordinates of the ancient Viking grave, which they believe will help them find a solution to the worsening electromagnetic disturbances that are caused by precursor technologies from the Isu civilization. If players walk outside, they will see a satellite falling into the ground like a burning star, showing the terrible effects of the disturbances that Layla and the team want to stop in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Layla Explores Animus Anomalies In Assassin's Creed Valhalla

At first, Layla has a hard time synchronizing with Eivor because of two different data streams in Eivor's DNA that sometimes breaks the simulation, which Layla describes to Rebecca as two minds fighting over one brain. While exploring using the animus, Layla can also find several Animus Anomalies that tell the story of nine Isu people who are ing their DNA into the human gene pool in an attempt to reincarnate themselves. Layla soon discovers that in AC Valhalla, Eivor is Odin's reincarnation which explains the data in Eivor's DNA that has been messing with the Animus simulation in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Layla Finds The Yggdrasil Chamber Through Eivor's Memory

Layla continues to explore Eivor's life and manages to discover the existence of the Yggdrasil Chamber, which is located below Hordaland. While Layla is confused about what she saw, Shaun and Rebecca gain an idea about what happens, and they begin to share about Desmond in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, with Shaun theorizing that the device Desmond has activated to protect the earth from the solar flare has been working on overdrive and causes electromagnetic disturbances. Layla decides to go to the Yggdrasil Chamber alone because she's the only one who can use the Staff as protection from the radiation in the area.

Layla connects to the Yggdrasil supercomputer and meets with Basim, who will be an important character in Assassin's Creed Mirage, and he reveals that he is the person who sent the mysterious audio file to Layla, and he offers to help her to achieve her goal of slowing down the machine. Layla is suspicious of Basim, but she has no other choice but to accept his proposal and unknowingly releases him to the world in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Layla Meets With The Reader In Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Layla soon discovers that she cannot find Basim in the Grey and begins looking for him, and in the process, she catches sight of a glowing figure standing in front of a tree-like object far away. Layla approaches the figure who greets her using her name, which confuses Layla and causes her to ask how he knows her name. It turns out, Ubisoft decided to bring back Desmond Miles in Assassin's Creed Valhalla in the form of the Reader, who is attempting to find a way to end the cycle of catastrophes.

The Reader explains that he has been recalculating and examining possible futures starting from the node of time when Layla slows down the machine in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The Reader has not found a future where humanity survives, prompting Layla to suggest that the Reader should consider the futures that can stem from an alternate timeline where Desmond does not save the world.

Layla wants to help the Reader to sift through the data, who mentions that Layla will not have much time left because her body will receive lethal radiation within 73 seconds, causing Layla to that she dropped the Staff on accident when she connected to the Yggdrasil supercomputer. Layla decides to stay in the Grey, believing that this is her best ending in Assassin's Creed Valhalla because she wants to make up for all the pain she has caused.

Basim Brings Back Layla's Last Message In Assassin's Creed: Valhalla

Basim, who manages to revitalize himself using the Staff, brings back the last message from Layla to Shaun and Rebecca, who are distraught over their friend's fate. In the recording, Layla tells them not to try to find her because it's either too late or too dangerous, and she also mentions that she has work to do, which may take years to finish, but she is not alone and not afraid. Although Shaun and Rebecca find it hard to believe that Layla has willingly stayed behind, Basim manages to convince them not to search for Layla, and the man asks if he can meet with William Miles in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
