PlayStation 5 exclusive Astro Bot keeps racking up awards and is launching free new content for players. The update includes five new levels of Astro Bot's signature platforming, PlayStation nostalgia, and more new content.
As described on the The Game Awards top prize, and the special bots will likely be nods to PlayStation's past like the other bots based on Sony-exclusive characters such as Kratos and Atreus from God of War.
The first free level, Tick-Tock Shock, launched Thursday for Astro Bot owners.
Astro Bot Continues To Grow
The Free Levels Continue To Improve Astro Bot
The massive success of Astro Bot is impressive, considering the series started as a tech demo for the PlayStation 4. The Playroom was the introduction to Astro Bot, followed by the PlayStation VR demo Astro Bot Rescue Mission and Astro's Playroom, which launched with the PS5 to showcase the DualSense controller and console's power. These tech demos got so popular that they led to a standalone Astro Bot game, a smash hit on the PS5, and subsequently birthed a new mascot for Sony.

Astro Bot: All Egg Artifact Locations In Dude Raiding
To unlock The Lost Eggacy trophy in Astro Bot, players must find three hidden Egg artifacts in Astro Bot's Uncharted-themed Dude Raiding level.
With the new levels, there's even more to enjoy. After players beat each level, they can replay them in the Time Attack Mode to test their speedrunning skills. Players can then rank their times against other Astro Bot owners worldwide. The names of the other levels include Thurst or Bust, Cock-A-Doodle-Doom, Hard to Bear, and Armored Hardcore. They'll run till March 13th and will be available every Thursday at 6:00 am PT. This could help entice even more new players, as a significant portion of Astro Bot owners never played a Sony game to buy the game.
Astro Bot Has Won Another Game Of The Year Award In 2025
The Good News Doesn't Stop For Team Asobi
After also winning Game of the Year at the New York Game Awards, Astro Bot won the top prize at the DICE Awards (via Video Games Chronicle). This is impressive as the voters of the DICE awards consist of other video game developers. Team Asobi's hard work has certainly paid off and has been recognized. This has been a runaway success for Sony, as there haven't been many PS5 exclusives this generation, so far.
This should also show Sony that not all their exclusives need to be prestige titles but can be high-quality fun for all ages. Some have argued that Astro Bot's success should be a wake-up call for PlayStation to go back to its roots of 3D platforming games. Importantly, it also shows an appetite for family-friendly games, whereas PlayStation has recently been focusing on games for older audiences.
