Fans of Attack on Titan will not have to wait as long as they feared to watch the finale of the series. Attack on Titan - The Final Season, Part 2, will air in Fall 2023, bringing to an end the animated version of the apocalyptic tale of Eren and Paradis Island.
Attack on Titan - The Final Season, Part 1 consisted in a special, 1-hour long episode that aired on March 3, 2023. The series came back after fourteen months and a huge cliffhanger, with Eren Yaeger transforming into the Founding Titan and starting the Rumbling, an apocalyptic attack that uses the horde of Colossal Titans hidden in the Walls of Paradis Island to destroy every other civilization in the world. After Part 1 of the final season aired, the official website announced that Part 2 will make its debut in Fall 2023. The announcement is also accompanied by a brief teaser video.
Attack On Titan's Final Episodes Will Conclude The Series Ten Years After Its Debut
The official name of this final batch of Attack on Titan episodes is The Final Chapters: Special 1 and Special 2. The long genesis of this final season, and its confusing nomenclature, are by now a running joke among fans. Technically, what aired in March should be Part 3 of Attack on Titan Season 4, but then this would make the conclusion Season 4 - Part 3, Part 2, which is why they changed the name. It is also worth noting that Season 4 started airing in December 2020, making this a unique case in the history of anime.
Of course, most Attack on Titan fans already know how the story will end after reading the manga (which concluded in 2021). However, this has not hurt the popularity of the anime at all. The series has an impressive 9.0 rating on IMDb, andThe Final Chapters: Special 1 has already achieved an impressive 9.6 over 26,000 votes, and that score is well deserved. MAPPA is taking painstakingly long to deliver this final season, but the product is always impressive. Special 1 shows the terrifying effects of the Rumbling upon the world, and the animation perfectly transmits the terror and desperation of the people caught in the disaster.
The long-awaited ending of Attack on Titan will air in Fall 2023, exactly ten years after the series began, in September 2013. An entire generation grew up with Attack on Titan, which is one of the reasons why this is one of the most influential anime of the past decade. Western fans can expect The Final Chapters: Special 2 to be transmitted on Crunchyroll shortly after it airs in Japan.
