Why The Russo Brothers Are A Good Choice To Direct Avengers 5 & 6
While time will tell if the Russo brothers sign on for Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars, their participation would make a lot of sense for multiple reasons. The brothers have brought success to the MCU since they first boarded the franchise all the way back with 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The success of the movie is what led to them not only directing Captain America: Civil War, but also the final Avengers movies in The Infinity Saga. All together, their MCU movies have earned $6.681 billion.

In the case of the Avengers: Secret Wars plot, it has been reported that the final Phase 6 film will serve as a soft reboot for the MCU, which means it will conclude the end of an era for the franchise. If the MCU is about to look very different in Phase 7 and beyond, having a duo like the Russos come back and finish this run only feels fitting. With many returning players from other MCU movies seemingly being back for Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars, a lot of them will be talent that the Russo brothers have worked with before, allowing them to capitalize on familiar dynamics.
Since the MCU has been focusing on quality over quantity, while also leaning more into what made the franchise as good as it was during The Infinity Saga, the return of the Russo brothers is an exciting prospect. If they end up g on, that may mean that production will start sometime in early 2025. Hopefully, an announcement of their involvement with Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars will be ready to roll out in time for San Diego Comic-Con next week.
