MCU Phase 4 proves that the Avengers never learned anything from their loss to Thanos (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios' franchise has been on rebuilding mode. But while projects are focused on sequels and origins stories, Earth's Mightiest Heroes will inevitably re-assemble to fight a brand new threat. Unfortunately, given their current status, bringing them all together will be much trickier this time.

Ever since the Avengers came together for the first time in 2012 for the Battle of New York, the team has become the premier superhero squad of the MCU. By Captain America: Civil War, they didn't fully re-assemble until Avengers: Endgame, which means that they fought Thanos (Josh Brolin) separately the first time.

Much has been said about the Avengers' loss to the Mad Titan in Avengers: Infinity War. Fans have various opinions about why the team failed to stop the snap. Some blame Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt) meltdown in Titan, while others believe that it's Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) cockiness that spelled their failure. But based on their win in Avengers: Endgame, it's arguably because the Avengers were scattered around, fighting Thanos on their own instead of working together. Tragically, it doesn't seem like they learned anything from this painful experience as the surviving Spider-Man: No Way Home, it doesn't appear like the remaining Avengers are actively communicating with each other. Otherwise, some would have shown up in the public incidents in the aforementioned projects. Instead, only heroes directly involved in these narratives were left to deal with their events.

The Bruce Banner not working at the Avengers HQ but in his own lab imply that there's no proper system as to how the Avengers are operating — if they're even operating as a unit. While the team's Upstate headquarters was wrecked by the events of Avengers: Endgame, it could've easily been repaired by now. Despite Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) not being around anymore, it's safe to assume that the facility is free to use by the remaining Avengers. If anything, Iron Man would've wanted that considering how keen he was on keeping Earth safe, especially with Morgan (Lexi Rabe) now in it. But now, everyone is busy minding their respective issues. This is fine, but at the very least, the Avengers could've made sure to keep everyone in the loop so it's easy to mobilize in case another dangerous threat like Thanos arises.

Perhaps the biggest hurdle in establishing a new order is that it's unclear who's supposed to lead the Avengers. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is busy working with Skrulls against other villainous shapeshifters, and both Iron Man and Captain America are no longer active in the MCU. Unfortunately, there wasn't any proper conversation about how the team will operate moving forward. So now, Earth is potentially at its most vulnerable just as it was during Avengers: Infinity War
