In a new preview for Avengers #61 by Marvel Comics, readers are introduced to the Avengers of the Viking Age, which feature a Sasquatch Sorcerer Supreme, the Grizzly Rider, and Thor as he first picked up his hammer.

The Avengers have been traveling across time to deal with Mephisto, as the villain has teamed up with the Iron Inquisitor to wreak havoc on Earth's Mightiest Heroes from different timelines. Thus far, the Avengers have encountered a gun-slinging version of Thor, the Doctor Strange during World War II. Things aren't about to get any less wild, as the superteam traveling back through time to the Viking Age will see the introduction of more ancient Avengers, including a Sorcerer Supreme who is part Sasquatch.

In a brand-new preview for Avengers #61 (Avengers leave the mysteriously aging Starbrand behind as they travel back in time to deal with Mephisto. However, when they arrive and meet the Viking Avengers, they quickly find out Starbrand has defied their directive and traveled back with them. As that happens, readers are introduced to a new Avengers squad from 1047 that is undoubtedly the most unique team of Earth's Mightiest Heroes ever assembled.

The Viking Avengers Consist Of Heroes Like You've Never Seen Before

The Viking Avengers features a group of unique heroes, including Murkfoot, the Sasquatch Supreme; Bodolf the Black, the strongest Viking ever; Theodosia Szardos, a witch who was burned at the stark and gained the powers of the Phoenix; Renegade Panther and the Atlantean Princess Iron Fist (who are a couple); as well as the mysterious Grizzly Rider of Cahokia. The new Avengers team s the time-displaced Earth's Mightiest Heroes in battling a dinosaur version of Mephisto. It's as rad as it sounds. Check out the synopsis for the issue below.

The Viking Avengers appear to be a welcome addition to the many, many heroes that have been introduced across space and time during Jason Aaron's Avengers run. They feature a unique cast, including a Sasquatch Sorcerer Supreme, that should be a serious asset to the main Avengers team as they try to stop Mephisto and his dark army once and for all. Avengers #61 by Marvel Comics is in comic book stores on Wednesday.
