The long-awaited final patch for big changes to the game, but this infamous bug is still present, and while it's not game-breaking, it can be annoying.
In a post on Reddit by jSlice__, the player confirms the infamous portrait glitch is still present in the game (via GamesRadar+). The glitch sees bugged character portraits appear off-center and expressionless, with the character moving to the bottom-right corner of the portrait, for example. Some players are finding the bug humorous, though, with the bugged portraits often being referred to as "Zoom call" shots. Other players just find the bug annoying because it doesn't affect gameplay elements, but it can be distracting or immersion-breaking.
Fans Are Poking Fun At The Long-Time Glitch
Patch 8 Wasn't Enough To Fix The Portraits
Players seem to be having a good laugh about the glitch still being in the game, even with Patch 8 being the final content update for Baldur's Gate 3. Some s on Reddit are expressing memorable portrait glitches and sharing their own screenshots when the infamous glitch happened to them. Marcuse0 notes that they have been encountering the glitch more since the massive update, saying: "I would go one further and say its noticeably worse. I leveled up three companions to level 2 and got portrait glitches on all of them."

Baldur's Gate 3 Star Is Fighting Against AI Performers, & BG3's Popularity Proves His Point
One of Baldur's Gate 3's stars has created an initiative to build recognition for video game actors, and BG3 itself proves why it's well-deserved.
Drae-Keer is expressing that the bug isn't even a bug anymore and that it might as well be a fully embraced "feature" instead, given how long the glitch has been in the game, saying: "Honestly it should become a feature. Every scene change should have an x% chance of making their portrait stare into your soul. Or in Halsin’s case, show off his pecks."
Our Take: The Bug Is A Part of Baldur's Gate 3 History
No Matter What People Think About The Portrait Bug, It's Memorable
Patch 8 was massive, adding 12 new subclasses, a robust Photo Mode, split-screen for the Xbox Series S version, and even crossplay between consoles and PC. It seems like, even with all of these additions and other bug fixes, the portrait bug might remain as a part of Baldur's Gate 3's incredible history. Despite it technically being a bug, and it not really supposed to be in the game, a lot of fans have had fun with the bug, and that makes sense given the large, ionate community this game spawned.
No matter your stance on the portrait bug, it has definitely cemented itself as one of the most memorable bugs from Baldur's Gate 3. It is possible that a small patch could be put out to address it and any other bugs in the game, but that may actually disappoint some fans who have enjoyed it. For now, and maybe forever, fans may have to stare at "Zoom call" expressions and bare chests occasionally instead of the proper portraits.
