Warning! Spoilers for The Flash #783 by DC Comics below
Wally West's children are about to encounter a terrifying new combination character in Night-Flash, who is part Flash. In The Flash #783 by DC Comics, in their search for Barry Allen, Irey and Jai West jump through a portal, taking them to a mysteriously new dimension. However, when they arrive, they're immediately met by a new Batman/The Flash lurking in the shadows, who appears much more sinister than their world's separate heroes.
Merging two heroes into one has become a frequent storytelling device in the pages of DC Comics. Just this week, Superman and Batman used the Green Lantern's Power Ring to become a combination hero in the World's Finest. The Dark Multiverse explored the concept even further, introducing several evil Bat-themed versions of other heroes, including the Red Death (Batman and The Flash), Darkfather (Batman and Darkseid), and the Batman Who Laughs (Batman and the Joker). However, a new Flash-Batman combination character has just been introduced with a menacing new look.
In The Flash #783 by Jeremy Adams, Amancay Nahuelpan, Jeremy Cox, and Rob Leigh, several versions of The Flash forces to search for the missing Barry Allen. However, when a portal opens up tracking Barry's frequency, Wally and Linda West's children Irey and Jai go through it without permission. When they land in an all-new world, they soon discover that the reality's version of Barry Allen has become a Bruce Wayne-like figure. However, a mysterious Batman-Flash combination character quickly spots them.
In whatever world the portal transported The Flash's children to, it sure seems like the Flash and Batman have become one in that reality - both as a hero persona and secret identity. Writer Jeremy Adams shared a sneak peek at The Flash #784 from DC Comics, showcasing the Batman-Flash combination character, revealing his name as "Night-Flash." From the pointed earpieces to the lightning bolt logo, Night-Flash appears to be a terrifying new take on Batman and the speedster.
The Night-Flash seems to be bad news for Irey and Jai West, as the Batman-Flash combination character makes a menacing first impression. Has his Earth corrupted Night-Flash into becoming a villain, or is his dark appearance and powers a misdirect, and will he turn out to be an ally to The Flash's children? Readers will learn more about the Batman-Flash merged hero when The Flash #784 by Jeremy Adams, Aamancay Nahuelpan, Jeremy Cox, and Rob Leigh from DC Comics arrives in comic book stores on July 20th.
