Ahead of Sailing Yacht season 5, which was plagued by ridiculous drama within the interior crew. Captain Jason is back, but Aesha won't be there as chief stew after she relocated to Below Deck Med.
Below Deck Down Under's Captain Jason Chambers teased what fans can expect from Aesha Scott's replacement, Lara Rigby.
While speaking with TV Insider about Below Deck Down Under season 3, Captain Jason teased what fans can expect from Aesha's replacement. While Lara has a lot of experience, which he was excited about, she "doesn't know the environment and the Below Deck system of going in, getting things done. Nothing is set up for you. You're on the run." Making the comparison to his previous chief stew, the captain explained that Aesha "had that ability and understanding of limitations and worked within that." Lara, on the other hand, is a perfectionist who needs to learn how to "adapt."
Speaking of Aesha, Captain Jason said he definitely misses her but acknowledged that she needed to "finish her story she has started" on Below Deck Med. He didn't want to be a "selfish captain and hold anyone back," so he learned to accept the situation and move on. While a comment like that sounds like Aesha will be sticking with Med, Jason is very open to having her return to Down Under if the opportunity arises in the future. "She could always come back. You never know," he teased.

Lara Might Bring More Drama To Below Deck Than Aesha Did
While it's not bad to be a perfectionist, per se, Below Deck crew always need to be flexible and adapt as the situation changes. Captain Jason itted that Aesha was flexible, but it sounds like Lara is not like that at all. While fans will need to wait for Below Deck Down Under to premiere to see for themselves, Lara's perfectionist behavior might end up being a hindrance on the yacht.

At the very least, Lara could bring a lot of drama if her perfectionism causes tension with her team. Aesha is one of the least dramatic people in the entire Below Deck franchise; she's extremely likable and goofy. She's the type of crew member that any captain would want on their yacht. It'll be interesting to see how fans react to Lara as the new chief stew, and if she really does have red flags or if she can use them to her advantage.
Our Take On Lara Replacing Aesha Scott
Lara Might Have A Difficult Charter Season
Below Deck Down Under won't be the same without Aesha. Fortunately, she's still in the franchise, even though it's a different spin-off. Even though he was quick to point out great things about Lara, like her years of experience, Captain Jason pointing out her flaws that Aesha doesn't have is very telling. It definitely seems like Lara could have a difficult charter season ahead.
