Peacock’s Captain Jason Chambers and his bosun Jamie Sayed. Captain Jason first made waves when Below Deck fans found out he was going to be at the helm of the megayacht Thalassa. Jason is the youngest captain so far to star in the Below Deck franchise, and fans, along with the female crew, were enamored by his striking good looks. The crew quickly saw that no job was too small for Jason, and he was willing to step in whenever his staff needed help..
As a former cop, lifeguard, and soldier, Jamie has a lot of titles under his belt, but this season on Below Deck Down Under was his first time as a bosun. New Below Deck member Captain Jason tried to take Jamie under his wing and guide him to be the best leader possible, but the two kept clashing over differing management styles. Jamie tried to lead his team in an authoritative manner, which rubbed some of his deck crew the wrong way. Jason felt like Jamie wasn’t managing his team well and got frustrated when simple tasks either got overlooked or took too long.
Jamie was ittedly handling a pretty green crew. Deckhand Brittini Burton was the least experienced crew member, and while she was hard-working, she had to learn a lot on the job. In fact, Jamie had to onish Brittini when she stepped over an active anchor chain and told her that she could have severed her leg if it got caught while the chain was rolling. Jamie also had to deal with his other deckhand Benny Crawley, who had more experience but showed insubordination and panicked while handling the anchor chain. When tasks on the deck kept failing to get done, Jason told Jamie to manage his team better, which left the bosun frustrated.
Jason became even more irritated with the deck crew when they were unprepared to leave the dock while the guests were waiting. Jason had to step in and help Benny untangle the lines while the guests looked on, making the crew look unprofessional. In another frustrating moment for Jason, Jamie held a deck team meeting while Jason was trying to undock and made him wait. Later, as the boat was leaving the beach, Jamie was watching the tender line and got alarmed at how fast the rope was unraveling. When he told the captain that he felt unsafe, Jason assured Jamie that he was an experienced captain and was doing everything safely.
The Below Deck Down Under captain itted to pushing his deck crew harder in order to get them up to speed. However, Jamie didn’t appreciate being scrutinized and feeling rushed. After his talk with Jason, Jamie had a meeting with his deck crew and told them he was concerned about safety issues and to listen to his orders over Jason. Usually, the bosun is supposed to be the captain’s right-hand man, but it looks as if there is a mutiny brewing on Thalassa. Hopefully, Jamie and Captain Jason can see eye-to-eye soon, or Jamie may be walking the plank.
