Captain Sandy led the fifth season of the show and fired the Chief Stew to the great dismay of the audience. Aside from the drama surrounding Hannah, Malia notably made franchise history as the first woman to become a Below Deck Bosun. She ed the cast of Below Deck Med season 2 as a deckhand and was asked to return in seasons 5 and 6, where she worked as the leader of the exterior department. The Bosun Alleged He Cheated On Her

Malia and Tom broke up after the Below Deck Med season 5 reunion. At first, it was unclear what happened between the Bosun and the chef, though she revealed in season 6 that he’d been unfaithful. In an August 2021 interview with Us Weekly, Malia said she found out that Tom “found someone else on his boats” while they were working apart during the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bosun revealed she “didn’t know for a couple of months” that he was cheating on her and found out “through a friend.”

“I think, in hindsight, I probably would not have loved for him to come on the show.”

Once Malia found out that Tom allegedly cheated on her, “all hell broke loose.” She rightfully felt betrayed by her former partner, whom she trusted. Working in yachting can be difficult, especially for yachties in relationships. It’s normal to have distance between one another when partners are working on different boats, but it’s not okay for cheating to take place. Luckily for Malia, she’s moved on from her relationship with Tom.

Malia & Jake The Engineer Split Before She Went On Winter House

After her breakup with Chef Tom, Malia dated Jake Baker, aka Jake the engineer, during Below Deck Med season 6. He was featured in the premiere episode of the sixth season but remained off-camera for the rest of the season — as did his romance with the Bosun. Malia and Jake’s budding romance wasn't shown on the reality show, and the news of their relationship somewhat shocked viewers. Nonetheless, they dated for quite some time until it was revealed when she ed the cast of Winter House season 3 in 2023 that they’d gone their separate ways.

Tom's Dating Life Is Unknown

The Chef Leads A Private Life

Despite starring in a reality TV show, Tom’s life is private nowadays. His Instagram , which boasts over 26,000 followers, is private, hinting he doesn’t want to be in the spotlight after his one-season-long run on the show. Tom hasn’t returned to the Below Deck franchise since season 5 of the Mediterranean spin-off, and it would be shocking if he was cast on the show in the future. He ed Below Deck Med season 5 due to his relationship with Malia, and she’s since left the series as well.

Would Malia & Tom Ever Get Back Together?

They Will Probably Not Rekindle Their Romance

Malia and Tom are likely never getting back together. In her August 2021 interview with Us Weekly, she itted the chef was “apologetic” and “very sorry” for his infidelity, and that he “want[ed] to get back with me,” at the time, but that their relationship was simply “not for [her]” anymore. Despite his attempt to win the Bosun back, Tom and Malia did not start dating after their breakup.

She was hurt by his disloyalty, with no room for him to win her back. Malia moved on after their relationship, and though she’s since broken up with Jake, she will most likely not date Tom again. After their relationship, Malia dated another yacthie though they also recently broke up before she appeared in Winter House season 3.
