It's becoming clear to me that Captain Jason Chambers as the figurehead of the spinoff, and he is known to be a straight shooter and formidable captain, as well as eye candy for his crew and viewers.
Captain Jason and Tzarina became close after working together in BDDU season 2, but I've noticed Tzarina's attitude in season 3 has risen to new heights, and it's had rippling effects. Tzarina has been a huge instigator of tension this season, and while I think she's added to viewer engagement, her behavior given her villain status. Tzarina has been building her bad perception from crew and fans, but I still feel she's a good cast member to keep. I know she won't return to BDDU, but will likely stay in the franchise, and I'm excited by a prospective twist.
Tzarina Is A Very Capable Chef
Tzarina's Food Is Extravagant
Chef Tzarina is 31 years old as of April 2025, and she hails from Bristol, England. Tzarina has worked in the yachting industry as a chef for more than five years now, and she has a clear dedication to her job, and her obvious ion is culinary arts. Tzarina is able to craft five-star quality dishes, but she has presented issues with how she runs her galley. She is a fully capable chef, but she gets overwhelmed easily, and it causes her to act out, even being dismissive of guest requests.
Despite her kitchen meltdowns, a pep talk from Captain Jason usually helps her to re-focus and not derail. In BDDU season 2, Tzarina was the sole chef on motoryacht Northern Sun, a 50.8-meter (167-foot) superyacht. However, at the beginning of season 3, Captain Jason relayed that he was bringing on a sous chef not only because the kitchen on motoryacht Katina is bigger, but also to help Tzarina with her output.
I see that Captain Jason recognizes where Tzarina stumbles as a productive chef, and bringing on a sous chef has been meant to correct her pitfalls. I know that succeeding for the guests and impressing Captain Jason is of upmost importance to Tzarina, and she usually delivers when she's not manic. I'm positive Tzarina's intention and skill are there, but she gets in her own way personally and professionally. Her manner in the kitchen does make for quality TV, which I why I feel and sense she will be kept around, but in a different capacity.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now
Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.
Tzarina Brings Boatmance Drama To Each Season
João Franco, Culver Bradley, Wihan Du Toit
Tzarina is a department head, but she doesn't always adhere to respective boundaries around crew mingling. In both Below Deck Down Under seasons 2 and 3, Tzarina got into boatmances; none of which worked out for her. In season 2, Tzarina had an interest in Culver Bradley, whom she catered to when he came to visit her in the kitchen. But Culver swiftly dumped Tzarina once Jaimee Neale came on board. Then, Tzarina went for Bosun João Franco, who had previously had an alleged toxic relationship with one of her friends.
Tzarina went for João anyway, which I thought underscored her sheisty nature. Tzarina and João ended up splitting over Tzarina's fears he would mistreat her, like he had supposedly done with her friend. In BDDU season 3, Tzarina showed interest in Bosun Wihan Du Toit, who initially showed Tzarina affection, but ended up going for Stewardess Marina Marcondes de Barros, and then Deckhand Adair Werley. However, Tzarina still flirted inappropriately with Wihan, complicating things and stirring the pot.
Tzarina's messy boatmances are another reason she should be kept on, as those scenarios and situationships produce some of the juiciest drama.
Tzarina Displays Controversial Behavior
Tzarina Gets In Her Own Way
Tzarina also provides quality reality TV by way of her behavior with her crew mates, as she often comes off as volatile and vindictive. Specifically, in BDDU season 3, Tzarina has clashed with Chief Stew Lara Rigby, over Tzarina perceiving that she is being undermined or slighted by Lara. Tzarina even took things to an unhealthy level when she purposely riled Lara up by ittedly fabricating that Lara was late to show up to work.
Tzarina has a jealous streak when it comes to her on-board friendships. I've noticed she likes to receive attention and iration from her crew mates and hates it when she sees Lara getting the attention she wants. In the galley, Tzarina also drove her original Sous Chef, Anthony Bird, to anger with her condescending tone and inability to guide and direct him effectively, which led to him leaving the boat.
She didn't establish a positive tone with Anthony, and that kind of attitude is something I've observed comes out a lot with Tzarina. I find it interesting and cringy to watch, which is why it would be smart to keep Tzarina on, as I don't see her changing her ways easily. Tzarina gets in her own way with her personality flaws, but it hasn't stopped her from completing her job, which is why she'd be a good pick as chef to return.
Tzarina Could Be Tested Outside Of BDDU
Tzarina Will Not Be On BDDU Season 4
I know for a fact that Tzarina will not be the chef in Below Deck Down Under season 4. Former Below Deck franchise chef, Ben Robinson, will be reprising his chef role, and Below Deck Sailing Yacht Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher will be moving spinoffs to BDDU. That leaves Tzarina out in that spinoff, but not out of the franchise. I think it would be interesting to see Tzarina's work under another captain.
And I'm certain Captain Sandy Yawn could help Tzarina with her attitude and galley management, as Captain Sandy is known to be a hands-on leader who doesn't mess around.
Another season in the Below Deck franchise under a different show than Below Deck Down Under could give Tzarina the chance at a redemption arc. After her negative displays both personally and professionally in seasons 2 and 3, there is a lot of room for Tzarina to grow as a chef in every capacity. I think the twist of having her in the same chef position but on a new boat under a new captain would be a great place for Tzarina to land, because she has been too important to the entertainment quality of the franchise.
Below Deck Down Under airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
