Chainsaw Man, based on the original manga by Tatsuki Fujimoto, is one of the most innovative anime series of the modern day. The anime follows Denji, a devil-human hybrid who fights against an array of unique devils, each with their own stunning set of powers. Animated by MAPPA, the studio behind hits like Jujutsu Kaisen and Attack on Titan, the Chainsaw Man anime is an incredible masterpiece in both its animation and its storytelling.
Chainsaw Man's first season began airing in October 2022 and ended in December of that same year. Although the manga has been updating since, no more Chainsaw Man anime has been released, and its fans are growing antsy in anticipation of the shonen's second season. In the meantime, these ten anime series are perfect to tide Chainsaw Man fans over while they wait for the next installment of the anime, which will come soon in the form of the 2025 Reze Arc Movie.
10 Jujutsu Kaisen
Based on the Original Manga by Gege Akutami, Animated by MAPPA
Jujutsu Kaisen is a must-watch anime for pretty much anyone, Chainsaw Man fan or not. Its flawless animation, near-perfect blend of serious themes and humor, and unbelievably powerful heroes and villains with dynamic personalities and backstories make it one of the best anime series of all time.
Furthermore, Jujutsu Kaisen was even animated by the exact same studio as Chainsaw Man: MAPPA. Chainsaw Man fans will find Jujutsu Kaisen's animation familiar and high-quality after watching the former series, and will undoubtedly enjoy the anime's intense battles and complex power systems that are reminiscent of those in Chainsaw Man as well.
9 Attack on Titan
Based on the Original Manga by Hajime Isayama, Animated by Wit Studio and MAPPA
Attack on Titan is a true anime masterpiece, following its bold protagonist, Eren Yeager, as he fights to defeat the man-eating Titans who threaten him and his loved ones. Throughout the series, Eren begins taking even greater risks to wipe out the beasts for good, and a full-on war breaks out between humanity and Titans.

Attack on Titan Is the Neon Genesis Evangelion of Anime's New Generation
Attack on Titan and Neon Genesis are two ground breaking series that share more similarities than it might initially appear.
Attack on Titan is yet another MAPPA creation, proving that the anime studio has a knack for creating absolute hits that fans will return to for years to come. This shonen classic has all the heart-racing battles, emotionally tear-jerking moments, and dark, grim undertones Chainsaw Man fans could hope for, making it the perfect series to check out next.
8 Cyberpunk Edgerunners
Netflix Original Anime, Based on the Video Game Cyberpunk 2077, Animated by CD PROJEKT RED and Studio Trigger
Cyberpunk Edgerunners is gritty, dark, and has exceptionally fluid animation, which are all qualities Chainsaw Man boasts as well. Based on a video game of the same name, Cyberpunk Edgerunners tells the story of a dystopian society and its inhabitants' struggles to survive, bringing in sci-fi elements like cyborgs.
In some ways, David Martinez, the main character of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, and Denji from Chainsaw Man are similar. They are both teenagers and were both pushed into difficult situations with no choice but to fight for survival using superpowered abilities and weapons. Thus, anyone who appreciates Denji's character development will be sure to enjoy David's throughout Cyberpunk Edgerunners.
7 Death Note
Based on the Original Manga by Tsugumi Ohba, Animated by Madhouse
Death Note may not have hand-to-hand combat or battle scenes like Chainsaw Man does, but it definitely delivers with the kind of dark, dramatic plot that will appeal to Chainsaw Man lovers. In Death Note, Light Yagami, a seemingly average high schooler, becomes the world's most dangerous serial killer when a mysteriously powerful notebook falls into his hands, allowing him to kill by writing down someone's name.

Death Note Is Still Popular Today, But Not For The Reason Fans Think
Despite being almost 20 years old, Death Note is still one the most easily recognizable anime of all time, for one unexpected reason.
Death Note is packed with mystery and crime elements, as the police race to uncover "Kira's" identity before it is too late. Chainsaw Man also features a number of villains who obscure who they really are until the last moment, giving both of these series a similar murder mystery tone.
6 Neon Genesis Evangelion
Written and Directed by Hideaki Anno, Animated by Gainax
Neon Genesis Evangelion is considered a classic in the anime genre, even over two decades after its initial release, and it is easy to see why. The basic premise of the series follows a boy, Shinji Ikari, as he takes on the monumentally difficult task of piloting an EVA unit robot in a cosmic war between humans and Angels.
The ongoing discord between humans and Angels is similar to the divide between humans and Chainsaw Man, meaning the series' plots can somewhat be compared. Neon Genesis Evangelion is fantastical, otherworldly, and focused on in-depth character development, which are all characteristics that Chainsaw Man emphasizes as well.
5 Dorohedoro
Based on the Original Manga by Q Hayashida, Animated by MAPPA
Dorohedoro is a lesser-known anime with a one-of-a-kind premise that is sure to capture viewers' attention from the very first episode. The series follows two friends, Caiman and Nikaido, working together to reverse a curse that was placed on Caiman by sorcerers, giving him a lizard head and wiping away all of his memories.
The anime includes friends banding together to pursue a common goal, violent, sometimes gory battles, and humor interspersed throughout a darker storyline, which are all themes that Chainsaw Man fans will find familiar. Dorohedoro is one of very few anime that can be described as completely unique, and with season 2 of Dorohedoro set to release in 2025, now is the perfect time to get caught up.
4 Dandadan
Based on the Original Manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, Animated by Science Saru
Dandadan is fairly new, and its first anime season debuted in October 2024. The main characters are Momo Ayase, who is psychic, and Okarun, whose body was taken over by a powerful spirit. The two unlikely friends must work together to free Okarun of his curse, and they become involved in many smaller battles and predicaments along the way, as they seek out Turbo Granny, the spirit controlling Okarun.
Jujutsu Kaisen, and that is no surprise, but the shonen hit also has a lot of elements Chainsaw Man fans will love. For example, the hilarious banter between Momo and Okarun is quite similar to the dynamic between Denji and Power, and Dandadan's battles are impressive and fast-paced, just like those in Chainsaw Man.
3 Demon Slayer
Based on the Original Manga by Koyoharu Gotouge, Animated by Ufotable
Since its final arcs are set to be adapted to anime soon in the form of a three-part Infinity Castle movie trilogy, this is a fantastic opportunity to take the plunge and become immersed in the thrilling world of Demon Slayer. Demon Slayer focuses on Tanjiro Kamado, a boy who begins killing demons in order to save his younger sister. On his journey, he grows stronger with each victory, but encounters increasingly dangerous demons everywhere he turns.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Infinity Castle Movie Lands U.S Release Date with Epic Trailer
Demon Slayer's first Infinity Castle movie gets a US release date, as revealed in the awesome new trailer for the anime's final act.
The demons in Demon Slayer may remind viewers of devils in Chainsaw Man. In the same way that humans can become fused with devils in Chainsaw Man, an ordinary human can become transformed into a demon in Demon Slayer. Both series are jam-packed with gory fights to the death and characters showing off their battle techniques in dramatic fashion, making Demon Slayer a must-watch for Chainsaw Man fans.
2 Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku
Based on the Original Manga by Yuji Kaku, Animated by MAPPA
Hell's Paradise is a dark fantasy series with one anime season currently out and a second season on the way in January 2026. The story places Gabimaru the Hollow, a man who is physically unable to be killed, on a mysterious island. Gabimaru, and all the others on the island, are set to be executed, but have the opportunity to earn their freedom if they can find the elixir of immortality.
Hell's Paradise has a similar feel to Chainsaw Man, both in its creative and somewhat outlandish premise and in its darker tone compared to other, more lighthearted shonen series. The series is also very heavy on fights and battles between the characters placed on the island and the mysterious creatures they find there, which will likely remind Chainsaw Man fans of clashes between humans and devils.
1 Vinland Saga
Based on the Original Manga by Makoto Yukimura, Animated by Wit Studio
Vinland Saga may be a seinen, not a shonen like Chainsaw Man, but definitely contains some of the darker fantasy elements that Chainsaw Man fans will be looking for in a series. Based on Makoto Yukimura's manga, Vinland Saga follows the protagonist Thorfinn's tumultuous expedition to find a place called Vinland.

Vinland Saga May Be Ending, But Its Creator Already Has a New Manga Up His Sleeve
Vinland Saga fans will be happy to know the author has an idea for a new manga, but there is a catch that might surprise them.
Anyone who enjoys viking stories will no doubt love Vinland Saga, and the majority of the series is set in England and Iceland. Although it differs from Chainsaw Man in some ways, like its subject matter, it has a lot of similarities too. Both series are set during a time of war and feature a fairly young male protagonist making sense of his identity while conflict rages around him, making Vinland Saga a great choice for Chainsaw Man fans to watch next.
