Her combination of emotional strength, unique powers, and personal growth makes her a beloved and integral character in Bleach.

9 Yhwach Is an Unsormountable Final Villain

First Appeared in Chapter #484

He seeks to overthrow the existing order of the Soul Society and merge the realms of the living and the dead, aiming to establish a new world under his control.

He serves as the ultimate antagonist to Ichigo, and the last person he has to overcome after accepting all parts of himself. Yhwach is truly a menace who is not only an incredible villain but also a brilliant character who represents multiple aspects of the series' philosophy.

8 Byakuya Kuchiki Is the Cool and Collected Hero

First Appeared in Chapter #51

By far one of the most popular characters in the series, the stoic and introverted Byakuya was one of the first antagonists and is characterized by a strong sense of duty, to the point of abandoning Rukia. Initially, Byakuya is rigid in his belief that the law must be upheld at all costs, which brings him into conflict with Ichigo Kurosaki over the fate of his sister, Rukia.

Over time, Byakuya's experiences lead him to a more nuanced understanding of justice, realizing the importance of protecting loved ones and being true to oneself, making his character arc very memorable. It also helps that his abilities and Bankai are strikingly beautiful and powerful.

7 Uryu Ishida Is Split Between Two Worlds

First Appeared in Chapter #2

The supposed last Quincy and Ichigo's ally, Uryu, was an introduction to the race that would later wage war on Soul Society, as well as the successor of Yhwach. His character development from someone who despises Soul Reapers to someone who comes to understand them and even risks his life to show how much he has grown, and his dynamic with his grandfather and father was interesting, to say the least.

The Thousand-Year Blood War arc has seen a huge increase in his importance, and the best of Uryu is yet to come, as he will even be receiving original scenes.

6 Ulqiorra Is One of the Most Memorable Villains

First Appeared in Chapter #190

The 4th highest ranking member in the Espada, Ulqiorra served as an enforcer for Aizen due to his loyalty, but was more than just that. His pale and death-like design enhanced his philosophy of nihilism and the idea of the lack of heart and emotions, making him deeply intriguing from the get-go.

His character development was one of the series' most beautiful, going from a Hollow that believes emotions are meaningless to accepting that even he is capable of feelings. His conclusion was second to none, making Ulqiorra one of the most unforgettable characters in Bleach.

5 Kenpachi Became a Shonen Stereotype

First Appeared in Chapter #65

The captain of Squad 11 is often thought of as a battle maniac, known for his fierce and formidable nature. He was among Ichigo's initial and toughest adversaries, posing a significant challenge to anyone who crossed paths with him. Yhwach even designated him as one of the 5 War Powers, underscoring his formidable prowess.

Kenpachi became iconic as the classic shonen character who believes in strength and is driven only to battle. However, his transformation into a more refined Soul Reaper and his journey of self-discovery through connecting with his Zanpakuto is an underrated and significant aspect of his character.

4 Kisuke Urahara Is One of the Coolest Mentors

First Appeared in Chapter #13

Urahara was one of the first characters in the series and maintained high relevance throughout. As the former captain of the 12th Division and founder of the Shinigami Research and Development Institute, he combines intellect, combat prowess, and a mysterious aura. He guides Ichigo through tough times and teaches him to place more importance on his life, helping Ichigo accept himself more. He is also very funny to watch and has a certain charm, but his seriousness is also there when the circumstances call for it.

3 Sosuke Aizen Is the Series' Best Villain

First Appeared in Chapter #79

The predominant antagonist in Bleach and one of the most powerful characters in the series, Aizen is beloved by fans for many reasons. With his composed demeanor, immense strength, exceptional strategic skills, and mastery of psychological manipulation, Aizen embodied the role of a villain to perfection and posed a significant threat to the Soul Society and Ichigo. Despite his defeat in the Arrancar Arc, there is more to be revealed about this former main antagonist in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, solidifying his status as one of the best villains in shonen anime.

2 Rukia Kuchiki Left Her Mark From the Start

First Appeared in Chapter #1

Rukia was the catalyst of the series and is regarded as the best female character in Bleach. She captured the hearts of fans from episode 1 and maintained an important role throughout, even though her presence decreased slightly later on. Her character arc was highlighted in the Soul Society arc where she was put to death for her "crimes", but she still maintained a smile and was adamant about protecting Ichigo from the same fate as her.

Her powers are nothing to scoff at either, becoming one of the few non-captains to achieve a Bankai and later going on to become a captain herself. From her charming and funny personality, resilience in the face of adversity, and intense loyalty, Rukia Kuchiki is definitively one of Bleach's most memorable characters.

1 Ichigo Is the Protagonist For a Reason

First Appeared in Chapter #1

The protagonist of the story, Ichigo Kurosaki, is easily the best-written character in the series, as well as one of the coolest. His motivation to protect his friends and his dream of an average life makes him very relatable. His heartbreaking past with his mother really drives home his struggles with self-acceptance and why he fights so hard, making him a fascinating and multi-faceted character.

From his incredible strength and charming personality to his dedication, Ichigo Kurosaki stands out as Bleach's best character and is a big reason why the series is as good as it is.
