2024 was a truly phenomenal year for manga. Manga like My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen went out with a bang as they continued to top the charts through their finales, and old and new hits like One Piece, Blue Lock, and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End continued to show how big they had gotten with strong sales numbers at every turn.

The best-selling manga of 2024 were all major hits in their own right, and 2025 is no different. Oricon, Japan’s biggest group for ranking sales figures in Japanese media, has just released the half-year sales figures for manga in 2025, and sure enough, 2025’s current best-selling manga are all some of the biggest manga in the world right now, thanks to their well-established fan bases and the popularity of recent anime adaptations. The best of the bunch are all more than worth highlighting, and at least some of them will undoubtedly go down as the best of 2025, overall.

10 Kingdom

1.3 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

Yasuhisa Hara's Kingdom is a fictional of the life of Li Xin, the general of the future legendary Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huang. Much like in real life, their relationship, alongside various other historical figures, paved the way for the end of China's Warring States period and all of China being united under the Qin dynasty, one of the most important eras in the history of the nation.

It’s been well-established that Kingdom is one of the best-selling manga of all time, and 2025 has been just as great a year for it, as Kingdom is currently the tenth best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 1.3 million volumes sold worldwide at the time of writing. Kingdom will always be a major hit, and with the Kingdom manga finally getting an English release, it’s only going to get bigger in the years to come.

9 Medalist

1.31 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

Tsurumaikada’s Medalist stars Inori Yuitsuka, a young girl whose dreams of becoming an Olympic figure skater are hampered by how, even at 11, she’s considered too old for serious training. One day, however, Inori meets Tsukasa Akeuraji, a former ice dancer on the brink of giving up skating, and when Tsukasa agrees to become Inori’s coach, they both begin to show the world just how talented they are.

Medalist was one of the biggest anime of winter 2024 thanks to its great animation and strong character writing, and sure enough, Medalist is the ninth best-selling manga of 2025 at the time of writing, with approximately 1.31 million volumes sold worldwide. Medalist season 2 is officially in development, and while it doesn’t have a release window, once it comes out, the manga will only become more popular than ever.

8 Sakamoto Days

1.37 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days stars Taro Sakamoto, a man who was once the world’s greatest assassin before he retired to start a family. Five years later, Sakamoto runs a convenience store and has put on a lot of weight, but when a bounty on his head starts putting him and his family in danger, he’ll have to come out of retirement to protect his new life and the people he cares about.

As divisive as the Sakamoto Days anime may be, there’s no denying that it was a major boon to the manga’s popularity, as Sakamoto Days is currently the eighth best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 1.37 million volumes sold worldwide. Sakamoto Days is undeniably one of the biggest manga in Shonen Jump right now, and since the Sakamoto Days anime is returning in July, it will only get bigger from here.

7 The Apothecary Diaries

1.58 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

Natsu Hyuga, Itsuki Nanao, and Nekokurage's The Apothecary Diaries takes place in an Imperial China-esque setting and follows Maomao, a sharp-witted apothecary abducted and sold into the emperor's palace. Using her extensive medicinal knowledge and keen observation skills, she demonstrates her value beyond just being a worker, and her talents soon attract the attention of the enigmatic eunuch Jinshi, leading to a deeper and more dangerous involvement in court affairs.

The Apothecary Diaries is one of the biggest breakout hits of the past few years, and it’s been just as strong in 2025, as The Apothecary Diaries is currently the seventh best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 1.58 million volumes sold worldwide. The Apothecary Diaries’ clever writing and stellar direction have made it one of the biggest anime franchises around, and the manga’s only going to get more successful as time goes on.

6 Blue Box

1.69 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

Kouji Miura's Blue Box stars Taiki Inomata, a rookie bton player with a crush on Chinatsu Kano, the star of the basketball team. Taiki is fine with iring Chinatsu from afar, but all of that changes when Chinatsu moves in with Taiki while her parents are working abroad, thus giving him a chance to finally have a true relationship with her.

The Blue Box anime was one of the most hotly anticipated anime of 2024 and largely lived up to its hype, and because of that, Blue Box is currently the sixth best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 1.69 million volumes sold worldwide. Blue Box is also notably one of the only romance stories to be on the best-sellers list in recent years, and with Blue Box season 2 officially in development, it’s bound to get even bigger from here on out.

5 My Hero Academia

1.75 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia takes place in a world where superheroes have long since become a part of everyday life thanks to the emergence of superpowers called Quirks. Izuku Midoriya is one of the rare people to be born Quirkless, but he still wants to be a hero, and after a chance meeting with his idol, All Might, Izuku is put on the path toward becoming the world’s greatest hero.

My Hero Academia has long since been one of the best-selling manga of all time, and sure enough, My Hero Academia is currently the fifth best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 1.75 million volumes sold worldwide. With the manga over and My Hero Academia’s final season premiering in October, My Hero Academia probably won’t rank in the top 10 again after 2025, but it’s sure to go out on a high note, regardless.

4 One Piece

1.84 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

In Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, the world has entered a Great Age of Piracy following the death of Gold Roger and the hunt for his legendary treasure, the One Piece. Among the people searching for it is Monkey D. Luffy, and despite the oddity of his having a body made of rubber, Luffy will gather a crew to travel through the Grand Line, find the One Piece, and become King of the Pirates.

One Piece has been the best-selling manga of all time for years now, and it’s continued that streak in 2025, as One Piece is currently the fourth best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 1.84 million volumes sold worldwide. The fact that One Piece achieved that with only one new volume in 2025 is especially impressive, and it’s certain to rank even higher before the year is done.

3 Blue Lock

1.9 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

In Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura’s Blue Lock, following Japan’s failure at the World Cup, eccentric sports analyst Jinpachi Ego is hired to come up with a way to push Japan into stardom. The method he came up with is Blue Lock, a grueling training regimen to turn one of 300 strikers into the greatest striker and egoist in Japan, and anyone who fails the program will be barred from playing soccer for Japan for the rest of their lives.

Blue Lock is another anime franchise that’s taken the world by storm in recent years, and very appropriately, Blue Lock is currently the third best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 1.9 million volumes sold worldwide. Few manga have taken off the way Blue Lock has, and with Blue Lock finally entering its World Cup arc, there’s no telling how much bigger it could become.

2 Dandadan

2.54 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

Yukinobu Tatsu’s Dandadan stars Momo Ayase and Okarun, two teenagers obsessed with aliens and the supernatural who end up permanently changed by an encounter with both, with both teens gaining supernatural powers and Okarun losing his genitalia. Momo and Okarun work together and with others to get them back while fighting any supernatural threat they come across, all as a budding romance begins to develop between the two.

Thanks to the anime’s incredible animation and the general charm of the writing, Dandadan was one of the biggest anime of 2024, if not the biggest, and the manga has more than benefited from that, as Dandadan is currently the second best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 2.54 million volumes sold worldwide. Dandadan season 2 is set to premiere this July, and when it does, there’s no telling how much higher Dandadan’s sales will rise.

1 Jujutsu Kaisen

3.37 Million Volumes Sold Worldwide

In Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori is a boy with abnormal physical abilities who one day learns of the existence of evil supernatural beings called curses. An incident with a curse forces Yuji to become a vessel to Ryomen Sukuna, the most evil curse in history, and thanks to his unexpected ability to suppress Sukuna’s power, Yuji is tasked with becoming a sorcerer and fighting curses until his superiors can execute him along with Sukuna’s soul.

Thanks to the tremendous success of the anime, Jujutsu Kaisen has consistently been one of the best-selling manga in the world, and 2025 was no different, as Jujutsu Kaisen is currently the best-selling manga of 2025 with approximately 3.37 million volumes sold worldwide. Even with the story over and done with, Jujutsu Kaisen is pulling in amazing numbers, and there’s no manga better fitting to be the best-selling manga of 2025.
