Only days after its release on Netflix, a live-action adaptation of a popular Japanese manga series is already on the streaming platform's global Top 10 TV shows. Netflix has released its viewership data for the week of May 12th through the 18th, 2025, and this includes a roundup of how popular TV shows rank on the global and local levels. Several newcomers have done well this particular week, with American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden, released on May 14th, taking the #1 spot.

Historically, One Piece adaptations, have inspired Netflix to continue turning popular animated Japanese entertainment into live-action masterpieces. Now, another success story seems to have hit the streaming platform.

Netflix's Bet Is #9 On Netflix's Global Top 10 TV Shows In Its First Week

Bet Climbed To The Top 10 During Its First 3 Days

Netflix's Bet

Netflix's new live-action series, Bet, is based on the Japanese manga series Kakegurui by Kawamoto Homura. Netflix's version by Simon Barry centers on an elite private school, St. Dominic's, where students participate in an underground gambling ring to determine their social status within the school. The thrilling teen drama stars Miku Martineau, Ayao Solanke, and Eve Edwards, and though it differs significantly from the source material, the new Netflix series is an homage to the original that matches, as Barry says (via Tudum), the "tone, audaciousness, and fun."

Bet premiered its first season on May 15th, 2025, and is already ranked #9 on Netflix's global Top 10 TV shows. Though it has yet to reach the US Top 10 list, Bet's global interest is an excellent sign that this will change in the coming days or weeks. Netflix reports that between May 15th and the 18th, Bet garnered a whopping 2.4 million views—a total of 13.7 million hours watched. Netflix's next weekly roundup is sure to reveal that this number has continued to grow.

Our Take On Bet's Week-1 Success On Netflix

Could This Live-Action Adaptation Climb Even Higher?

Miku Martineau in Bet

Though it's not unheard of for a new Netflix series to only briefly grace the Top 10 list, Bet's success after three days is a great sign that it has some longevity. The live-action series was released shortly before the cutoff for Netflix's weekly data, which means the window for its 2.4 million views is rather small. For example, Netflix's You has been on the top 10 for four weeks running, and it currently has 3.3 million views. Given the same amount of time on Netflix, it's a good gamble to say that Bet could climb its way much higher.
