The Challenge: USA contestant Alyssa Lopez called out a fan who tried to shame her for taking a job at Hooters. Alyssa became a fan-favorite during Big Brother season 23 when she was the last houseguest standing against the secret history-making Cookout alliance, placing seventh behind them. Although Alyssa later understood the greater purpose of The Cookout, which was formed to ensure that the first Black Big Brother winner would be crowned after 22 years of gameplay, she still went into The Challenge: USA with revenge on her mind. Alyssa set her sights on her closest ally, Big Brother 23 winner Xavier Prather, in order to beat him in the game as he had bested her before. Alyssa achieved her goal when Xavier went home before her, and she was the last Challenge contestant to be eliminated before the final.
Now, in a tweet, Alyssa retweeted the post and responded to Sasha. She wrote, "I'm confused why you think I should be embarrassed by this? To be able to pay my rent from 2 shifts at Hooters is amazing!"
Alyssa Lopez Defends Working At Hooters After Big Brother
Alyssa continued by stating something that many Big Brother fans might not realize. She said, "So many reality tv stars have actual jobs. We are normal human beings. I'm just real enough to show it." However, Alyssa does not seem to bear any ill will toward Sasha and even extended an invitation to Hooters. She said, "Come in my next shift I'II buy you a shot." Of course, this could also be sarcasm on Alyssa's part. Sasha continued to troll Alyssa, saying, "I don't want shots. I want some wings." Many of Alyssa's fans replied to the tweet to defend her and commend her for working. They said that she has nothing to be embarrassed about.
Before she became a Big Brother houseguest, Alyssa was a waitress at Hooters. She was so popular that she was featured on a billboard for the restaurant in her hometown of Sarasota, Florida. The now-26-year-old also launched her own swimsuit line, MollieBird, before appearing on Big Brother. According to her Instagram , she is also the founder of Key Influencer Agency. Although she has other sources of income, Alyssa's decision to return to Hooters for work is irable and respectable. She is correct that there is nothing embarrassing about working for a living in order to pay rent.
Reality television contestants have large fan followings. Unfortunately, they also have critics who will say things to get a reaction out of them. Although Alyssa could have simply ignored this tweet, it seems that it was important to her to speak out against this person, who was trying to shame her for working. Alyssa is doing what she needs to do in order to live a successful life. She should be proud of the life she is living after Big Brother.
