Fighting to be the Head of Household on the contestants who enter the house want to be in as it will put that person in a position of supreme power and protect them from eviction.
To be Head of Household, the contestants must perform a competition during the live show of that week, and the winner of that competition gets the supreme honor. However, if fans had to choose what Head of Household competitions were the best and most creative, which ones would they choose?
Before Or After
This is one of the classic HOH games of the Big Brother house. "Before or After" is not only used as a competition to see who will be Head of Household, but it's also a Power of Veto game.
This is a quiz competition, in which each houseguest has to answer a question about two events that happened earlier in the game. It's a memory game that puts a creative spin on the typical quiz competition.
Slippery Slope
Think of this competition as one big slip n' slide game for adults. Slippery Slope splits the houseguests into lanes and each has to transport the liquid (depends on the season) from a barrel on one end and transport it to the empty barrel that sits on the other end. The catch, the housemates have to try not to slip on the mat and risk spilling the liquid in their scooper.
Slingshot
However, the premise remains the same as houseguests have to slingshot balls into a certain space. It's one of the more creative games in the long-running show, and one that always can make-or-break a current HOH leader.
What's The Holdup?
This HOH competition is memorable because it's one of the few that's only been won by the women of the house. This game is basically "Green Light, Red Light," and it's only been played twice in the history of Big Brother.
The two times it has been played, it has been won by the women: Alex Willett (Big Brother: OTT) and Jessica Graf (season 19). Maybe one day, the producers will reintroduce this game back into the fold.
Knockout
The person who answers first, eliminates, or "knockout" their opponent. The twist is, if the person that buzzes in answers wrong, they are eliminated, and if neither buzzes in, both are knocked out.
The Wall
This isn't your normal wall. This HOH game has become a staple of the series and tests the endurance of the houseguests. The premise involved a large wall, in which houseguests must be able to stay on the wall for as long as possible without falling. Once one falls off the wall, that guest is eliminated.
While the premise has remained the same, there have been some twists over the years, such as balls being thrown at the houseguests to make them fall off the wall.
Big Top Drop
This game has been used in a variety of ways and has become a fan favorite over the years. Big Top Drop is a game in which houseguests must get a ball from a pile and put the ball down a tube. The ball has to go in in order for it to count, as if it doesn't they must try again with a different ball. This creative competition has been used in a number of HOH competitions.
The Pressure Cooker
HOH competitions are pressured enough, but the show's creators have found a way to incorporate that pressure and make it even more pressure-filled.
The Pressure Cooker was done only for Season 6, and for good reason: It went down in history as the longest-lasting challenge ever, going on for 14 hours and 37 minutes. It was an innovative and exhausting game that the producers have yet to bring back to the game.
Wheel Of First Impressions
This game is historic in the fact that it was the first HOH competition game ever played on the U.S. version of Big Brother. Like the other competitions, the rules of this creative game has shifted over the years, but the premise has remained the same.
The general rule is that two houseguests are selected, based on first impressions, and have to choose which guest stays in the house, and which ones are eliminated. Wheel Of First Impressions has become the de-facto opening competition of the game since.
Shootout
Leave it to Big Brother to turn classic games upside-down and make them into high-pressure, unique competitions. The shootout is one of them, and the HOH game has taken on various identities over the years in all of its versions. This is basically a giant game of mini-golf, but with bigger stakes involved.
