When it comes to the game of Big Brother, players have to have friends that they can rely on, people who have their back always. That's where alliances come in. Alliances are the heart of Big Brother. Groups of people working together to take control of the house in week by week battles, all while eliminating floaters along the way.
Throughout the years, there have been a few Big Brother alliances that have risen above all the others and made it to the end of the season (mostly) intact. In a game as cutthroat as this, that isn't an easy thing to accomplish.
Four Horsemen
One of the stronger alliances in Big Brother history, but certainly not the best, is the Four Horsemen alliance from Big Brother 5. While the group was fractured a few times, such as when Drew let Jase go down to Nakomis's Six-Finger Plan, they generally did well and worked together. After all, Drew and Cowboy made it to the final two together due to the former eliminating his love interest Diane instead of his other alliance member.
3 A.M.
3 A.M. was the dominant alliance in much of Big Brother 15. Consisting of Amanda, Aaryn, Andy, and McCrae, the group systematically took out their opponents until Andy defected and targeted Aaryn in order to save his own game.
Nevertheless, the group made it halfway through the game before breaking up, and every member made it far, with everyone making it to jury and Andy going on to win the season.
Sovereign Six
While the Sovereign Six eventually fell to the Friendship alliance, it's still one of the most iconic alliances that stayed together for two seasons in a row. The group formed in season six and lasted until the final three, where Janelle was evicted from the game.
They even made their way into season seven, where it lasted until... the final three when Janelle was evicted from the game. The alliance won a ton of competitions along the way, leaving its mark on the game as a powerful alliance both physically and mentally.
Level Six
Level Six was the dominant alliance in season 20 of the show, going against one of the show's worst alliances of all time, The Hive. Level Six was both a social and a physical threat on all sides.
While two of the alliance went out early in the game, the rest made it very far into the game, with the final three players all being of Level Six. Due to Kaycee's competition prowess, the group had no trouble picking off of The Hive one by one.
The Secret Alliance
The secret alliance was a duo from Big Brother 3, composed of Danielle and Jason, and absolutely no one in the house knew about it (hence the name). The two really took control of the house until the final three, when Jason was evicted by Lisa.
While neither of the duo managed to win, they made it incredibly far in the game and had a lot of say in who stayed in the game and who left on a week-to-week basis.
The Scamper Squad
The Scamper Squad was the power alliance in Big Brother 17 that won most competitions and generally controlled the direction of the house, with every player at least making it to jury.
The group was made up of social and physical threats, allowing them to fire on all cylinders on a week-to-week basis. No one could touch them, and the group member, Steve, ended up taking home the $500,000 once the season had concluded.
The Brigade
The Brigade was the controlling alliance of season 12 that dominated the house every week. While group member, Matt, didn't make it as far as the rest of the group, the remaining systematically took out threat after threat while clearing a path for themselves to the end.
With the Brigade singularly composing the final three of the season, no one could stand up to this powerhouse alliance.
Friendship
Friendship, one of the most hated alliances of all time, was formed by Maggie to secure a powerful alliance that filled the jury house.
The group did incredibly well, with 3/4 of the final four being Friendship . Maggie cut deals and worked everyone in the alliance to not vote for a member if they evicted one of their own. With no one wanting to evict her, she made sure with absolute certainty that she was going to win the game.
Chilltown
Chilltown, an alliance that is mainly formed by Mike Boogie and Dr. Will, is a hugely popular group that dominated both seasons it appeared on, Big Brother 2 and 7 (and season 14, to a degree). Dr. Will took the win in 2, with Boogie winning 7.
In both 2 and 7, the duo controlled the house with a pretty iron grip, with Erika and Janelle being in the control of the duo in all-stars. However, Janelle took out Will in a stunning move in the final four.
The Hitmen
The Hitmen is the highest-ranked group on this list for a reason. They were a duo that controlled the house by themselves and made it to the final two with ease.
The real power in this alliance was Derrick, who won the game without ever being nominated. While Cody is a strong player in his own right, Derrick is a powerhouse that can only be touched by the best players in all of the game.
