Warning: Spoilers ahead for Black AdamAfter years stuck in development, Black Adam is finally releasing in theaters. Starring Dwayne Johnson, who has been attached to the title role since the early 2000s, Black Adam promises to take the DC Extended Universe to the next level. Set in the fictional country of Kahndaq, the superhero film introduces plenty of new characters and brings back a few familiar faces.
Black Adam follows the titular character, an antihero in the world of DC Comics, as he fights for the people of Kahndaq (and often the Justice Society of America) against the villain Sabbac. The film assembles quite the cast as it brings together many characters from the comics, many of whom are making their live-action debut in Black Adam. Dwayne Johnson as Teth-Adam/Black Adam
Teth-Adam is from Kahndaq who lived 5,000 years ago. Enslaved by King Ahk-Ton, Teth-Adam was chosen by the Council of Wizards as the people’s champion to defeat the ruler before he completed the crown of Sabbac. Black Adam is portrayed by Dwayne Johnson, who is best known for his roles in the 2017’s Jumanji, the animated film Moana, the TV series Young Rock, the Fast and the Furious franchise, where he plays Hobbs, and San Andreas.
Aldis Hodge as Carter Hall/Hawkman
Carter Hall (aka, Hawkman) is a reincarnated Egyptian prince and the leader of the Justice Society of America. As Hawkman, Carter can fly with the use of his Nth metal wings and sees the world in black-and-white regarding who is good vs. evil. Hawkman is portrayed by Aldis Hodge, who is best known for his roles in One Night in Miami, Straight Outta Compton, the psychological thriller The Invisible Man, Hidden Figures, and the TV series Underground.
Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate
Kent Nelson (aka, Doctor Fate) is a member of the Justice Society who wears the Helmet of Fate, which has the ability to see events from the future. Doctor Fate is portrayed by Pierce Brosnan, who is best known for playing James Bond in films such as The World is Not Enough and Tomorrow Never Dies. He has also starred in the musical Mamma Mia!, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Mrs. Doubtfire.
Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz
Adrianna Tomaz is a professor and resistance fighter. She is the keeper of the crown of Sabbac, and hides it to prevent Intergang, military occupants of Kahndaq, from seizing it for their nefarious purposes. Adrianna is portrayed by Sarah Shahi, who is best known for the Netflix series Sex/Life, The L Word, and roles in Chicago Fire and The Rookie.
Bodhi Sabongui as Amon Tomaz
Amon Tomaz is Adrianna’s son who helps Black Adam throughout the DCEU film. Amon is portrayed by Bodhi Sabongui, who is known for his roles in the Netflix series The Baby-Sitters Club and A Million Little Things.
Noah Centineo as Albert "Al" Rothstein/Atom Smasher
Albert Rothstein (aka, Atom Smasher) is a member of the Justice Society of America who can control his molecules, growing larger at will. Atom Smasher is portrayed by Noah Centineo, who is best known for the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy on Netflix, The Perfect Date, and the TV drama The Fosters.
Marwan Kenzari as Ishmael Gregor
Ishmael Gregor was a member of Adrianna’s resistance team, but he was secretly the leader of Intergang who wanted to reclaim the crown of Sabbac. Ishmael is portrayed by Marwan Kenzari, who also plays King Ahk-Ton and Sabbac in Black Adam. The actor is best known for his work on Netflix’s The Old Guard, as Jafar in the live-action Aladdin, and Murder on the Orient Express.
Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel/Cyclone
Maxine Hunkel (aka, Cyclone) is a member of the Justice Society of America. Cyclone can generate and control wind and can create small tornadoes with her powers. Cyclone is portrayed by Quintessa Swindell, who is best known for Voyagers and Master Gardner.
Mohammed Amer as Karim
Karim is Adrianna Tomaz’s brother and the uncle of Amon. Mohammed “Mo” Amer is a comedian and actor who is known for the Netflix series Mo, and the Hulu series Ramy.

Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman - Superman is an alien from Krypton and a member of the Justice League. Henry Cavill reprises his role as the superhero in Black Adam. He is known for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Enola Holmes, The Witcher, The Tudors, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
Jalon Christian as Hurut - Hurut is Teth-Adam’s son and is largely seen in flashbacks. Jalon Christian is known for A Journal for Jordan and Selfie Dad.
Djimon Hounsou as Shazam - Shazam is a wizard who is a member of the council granting Teth-Adam his powers. Djimon Hounsou reprises the role he originated in Shazam!. The actor is also known for The King’s Man, Captain Marvel, A Quiet Place Part II, Blood Diamond, and Furious 7.
Viola Davis as Amanda Waller - Amanda Waller is the leader of Task Force X. Viola Davis is known for The Woman King, Widows, Suicide Squad, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, and the drama series How to Get Away With Murder.
Henry Winkler as Uncle Al - Uncle Al is Atom Smasher's uncle. Henry Winkler, who appears in a cameo, is known for the HBO series Barry and Arrested Development.
Odelya Halevi as Shiruta - Shiruta is Teth-Adam’s wife and Hurut’s mother. Odelya Halevi is known for Law & Order.
