Probably the most interesting part that has been teased about the DCEU's DC Extended Universe raises several questions. As the trailers have depicted, Black Adam is a true force to be reckoned with, so it is not much of a surprise that it would take the combined might of other heroes in order to take him down. Fascinatingly enough, rather than using of the more well-known Justice League, the developers have instead decided to use the more-obscure Justice Society. While this choice is indeed intriguing, there are several aspects about the Justice Society that cause a good bit of confusion within the DCEU continuity.
As seen in the Black Adam trailer, Jay Garrick's Flash and Alan Grant's Green Lantern. Essentially, the Justice Society has been around for quite some time. The team existed well before the Justice League made its debut in 1960, which is a fact that is quite baffling now that the team has been brought into the DCEU.
The entire story of Black Adam is revealed to be taking place in the modern day, the year 2022 to be more precise. During this time, the Justice League has been formed, and is thus currently active within the universe. However, the Justice League team is technically a successor of the Justice Society, considering the latter came first in the comic book timeline. With this in mind, it would be more logical for the film to take place in a time before the events of Justice League, but, unfortunately, that is not the case. This causes a great deal of confusion in of the DCEU and its cohesion with both its related films and its source material, as the introduction of the Justice Society now has the timeline seemingly skewed.
How The Justice Society Can Exist Without Breaking The DCEU Timeline
There could be a solution to this problematic situation the Society's existence causes. In order to find it, it's important to consider the 2023 film the Multiverse into the DCEU, which could be a surefire way of giving the Justice Society a better chance of existing without further altering the current chronology.
In the age before many major DC comic book events like Crisis On Infinite Earths, Infinite Crisis, and DC Rebirth, the Justice Society were once moved from the original timeline (Earth-1) to an alternate dimension known as Earth-2. It was there where they reigned as the resident superhero team while the Justice League held said title back on Earth-1. If the Multiverse is confirmed to be added to the equation, then the entire timeline could be saved by doing one simple thing: having Black Adam be set on a DCEU version of Earth-2 (as in a different version from Shazam!), the execution of this is sadly impossible to perform without further compromising the continuity.
