The Blood of Dawnwalker is an title by Rebel Wolves, a new studio founded by veteran developers of CD Projekt Red (The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077). The game is described as a dark fantasy RPG set in medieval Europe in the 14th century. As plague and war rip through a human kingdom near the Carpathian Mountains, vampires rise to take control, make themselves lords, and enact a blood tax on the unwilling citizens.

Players take on the role of Coen, a young man trapped between two worlds, who only has hirty days to save his family and the kingdom at large from the vampire threat. The first gameplay trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker is coming this summer, and though the game doesn’t have a firm release date yet, it will hopefully come out before the end of the year.

There are so many RPGs coming out in 2025, and many of them look incredible. However, some absolutely stand above the rest as the most anticipated.

The first teaser for The Blood of Dawnwalker didn’t reveal much gameplay, but the short clips show Coen using his vampire abilities by sliding down buildings with his claws and teleporting in a black mist to attack enemies. A more in-depth gameplay reveal will come this summer, hopefully alongside more details on Coen’s vampiric abilities.

A few details about the main characters in The Blood of Dawnwalker have been revealed. The official X for the game have revealed short bios about select characters, including an ancient vampire named Xanthe, who is so old that “she was a priestess, once, on a remote Greek island, the name of which she has since forgotten.”

Brencis, the main vampire seen in the first trailer, was an ambitious Roman Senator before becoming undead and taking his hunger for power with him through the centuries. Finally, there’s Ambrus, a recently turned vampire with a handsome face and a chip on his shoulder.

Why You Should Be Excited For This Vampire RPG

A Veteran Team For A Dark Fantasy

The Blood of Dawnwalker has a fantastic premise, and players can rest assured that the Rebel Wolves team will execute it well. Founded by Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, game director on The Witcher 3 and a co-director on Cyberpunk 2077, Rebel Wolves has assembled a team of veteran developers from CD Projekt Red, including Jakub Szamalek (narrative director), Bartlomiej Gawel (art director), and Daniel Sadowski (design director).

Alongside a proven team of pro developers is a unique mechanic for The Blood of Dawnwalker: Time. Players will only have thirty in-game days to complete the story, so time will be extremely limited. This means that players won’t be able to fully explore the vampire-ridden feudal kingdom in their first playthrough, which should provide a rewarding replay experience. Tomaszkiewicz explained in via a press release that “time is a resource, and with each quest progressing its age, it is impossible to complete all stories and arcs before the dreadful deadline, making each playthrough unique.”
