With the expected release date of Elden Ring approaching, fans of the Souls series may be speculating on the bosses that will make an appearance in this title: hulking knights with large melee weapons, bosses with a swarm of defense, massive dragons with elemental attacks. Many recurring types of bosses appear throughout the Souls series, though with different designs and details. Some of the hardest bosses players faced in Bloodborne would make good candidates for inclusion in Elden Ring.

Bloodborne is one of the more unique titles in the Souls series and boasts a host of incredibly challenging fights. Set in a dark Victorian-era-inspired cityscape imbued with Lovecraftian cosmic horror, players face a misshapen centaur-like amalgamation, a ghoulish dignitary, and a few large tentacled creatures. Many of these terrifying creatures would easily blend into the world of Elden Ring with just a few tweaks and alterations.

Elden Ring is set in the Lands Between after they have been torn by war. The death of Godwyn the Golden brought about the shattering of the Elden Ring, unleashing unique chaos onto the world and bringing war that seemed endless. All sides struggled to gain the upper hand but eventually failed, resulting in a stalemate. Upon recovering these shards of the Elden Ring, the Old Gods of the Lands Between all inherited distinct abilities. Though each one of them eventually fell into chaos and madness, due to their innate corruption, which caused their appearance to warp. This setting offers plenty of opportunities for interesting boss designs.

Bloodborne's Moon Presence Repurposed For Elden Ring

/wordpress/wp-content/s/2018/06/Bloodborne-Moon-Presence-e1530327839724.jpg

The Moon Presence in Bloodborne is one of the Great Ones that players may find. This terrifying faceless skeletal being sports a mass of tentacles as a head and tail. This boss is incredibly quick, whipping and clawing at the player, which keeps them on the defensive. The Moon Presence can also drain the player's health with two different attacks, floating orbs of blood and a shockwave blast. Though not one of the most difficult bosses, this boss can easily take out a player that is unaware of these tricks.

The Moon Presence could be repurposed as an Old God of the Lands Between for Elden Ring. After recovering shards of the Elden Ring, the Old Gods are said to have fallen into chaos and madness that caused their appearance to warp, creating this God's macabre appearance. Health draining attacks seem fitting for an Old God, and the clawing melee approach seems fitting for a creature afflicted with chaos and madness.

Bloodborne's Pthumerian Elder As A Boss In Elden Ring

Pthumerian Elder From Bloodborne Chalice Dungeons

Pthumerian Elder is an ancient dignitary that stalks some of the Chalice Dungeons. He wields a large magical staff topped with an everlasting flame, capable of transforming into many different weapons in Bloodborne for a variety of attacks - taking the shape of a crossbow, scythe, morning star, and more. This impressive staff doesn't overshadow this boss' own abilities as he teleports away from damage and is highly acrobatic, making him an incredibly tough fight.

This boss could make a return in Elden Ring as the last of a warrior lineage defending his homelands, possibly hidden away as a lone recluse in a cabin or a tomb beneath a long-abandoned castle. His staff would be used to cast sorceries in the Lands Between, which could allow weapon swapping tactics similar to those seen in Bloodborne or an entirely new moveset. Exhausted from the preceding wars, draped with ancient garb that has grown mossy and tattered, this elderly man is much faster and light on his feet than he appears.

Rom The Vacuous Spider From Bloodborne Repurposed For Elden Ring

The boss Rom, the Vacuous Spider walks across water in Bloodborne.

Rom the Vacuous Spider is another one of the Great Ones found in Bloodborne. This battle can be very difficult as she is able to summon a horde of spider underlings at will as well as use arcane magic to launch large chunks of ice at the player from above and below the surface of the ethereal waters of Moonside Lake. Her hulking mass is another weapon she'll use to her advantage, thrashing and crushing the player if they get too close.

This boss could make an excellent addition to Elden Ring as a crowd control-style boss. Placed in a vast open field or a large forested area for added terrain difficulty, she could conjure her spiderlings from the earth or the trees. She wouldn't necessarily need magical capabilities to be threatening; with her imposing size and a terrifying redesign, she could effectively guard her corner of the Lands Between.

Ludwig The Accursed From Bloodborne DLC In Elden Ring

Ludwig The Accursed fighting in Bloodborne.

Ludwig the Accursed is a foul monstrosity found in the DLC The Old Hunters and is one of Bloodborne's toughest boss fights. He appears as an amalgamation of body parts, vaguely resembling a horse but with spare limbs, mouths, and eyes. His head is also horse-like, though he was originally a hunter just like the player. This boss is renowned for his violence, said to have created the river of blood that flows through the nightmare of The Old Hunters, and he will rarely let up on his attacks. When Ludwig is done charging and stomping around the arena, he will draw his giant Holy Blade, attempting to kill the player with its magic-based attacks.

Ludwig can be repurposed for Elden Ring as a creature consumed with blinding rage, similar to his motivations in Bloodborne. Perhaps an abandoned experiment of war, a threatening creation that combined animal instincts and swordplay ability, left to fend for itself in the Lands Between. Or perhaps he's simply another victim of the influence of the Elden Ring shards, furious and warped beyond human recognition.

Ebrietas From Bloodborne As An Elden Ring Boss

Ebrietas standing still before the start of the fight in Bloodborne.

Ebrietas Daughter of the Cosmos is a Great One that was left behind in Bloodborne. She is found hidden below the Upper Cathedral Ward and appears as an entirely alien being, with tentacle appendages and semi-functional skeletal wings. Ebrietas has a large head that is split in two and lined with fleshy finger-like growths; inside is a mound of pink tissue that is mottled with dark red pustules that may be additional eyes. This boss uses melee attacks with her tentacles and head, coupled with impressive magical displays like launching targeted stars at the player and surrounding herself with a health-draining cosmic shield.

Elden Ring could repurpose this boss as another of the Old Gods, fallen from grace and altered due to the effects of the Elden Ring shards. She could maintain her unique astral attacks and present as a different type of cosmic being. Potentially a large owl with damaged and broken wings, able to fly for short periods and swoop down for devastating attacks.
