Bose is expected to announce the Quiet Comfort Earbuds II soon as a follow-up to its 2020 Quiet Comfort Earbuds, and there's already a fair bit of information on what to expect. Known for its noise-canceling headphones such as the Bose QC 45 and Bose 700, the American audio company also offers noise-canceling earbuds for those who don't fancy its large over-the-ear headphones. In addition to headphones and earbuds, Bose also makes Bluetooth speakers, soundbars, and car stereos. In 2020, it announced the Bose Frames, a pair of sunglasses with built-in speakers. They come in three different styles including a sports-like version called Tempo. The Frames are rivals to other audio glasses like the in-ear design for ive noise cancellation but now have a smaller form factor that doesn't protrude as much as the first-generation buds. Apart from the size difference, Bose also appears to have shrunk the stabilizer arcs which should make them more comfortable. However, the tips are still angled.
Quiet Comfort Earbuds II May Cost More
The Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds II are also expected to come in a new charging case that is similar to the Pixel Buds Pro. The previous generation came in a case that was similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro. The earbuds have a two-tone finish and will be available for purchase in two color options just like their predecessors.
In of features, there are few details currently available. They are expected to still have some form of water resistance, considering the 2020 model had an IPX4 rating. Active Noise Cancellation, which is likely to come with some improvements, is also a given. They should also have an improved Aware Mode which is what Bose calls its transparency mode. The first-gen earbuds connected via Bluetooth 5.1, so the second-gen model is expected to have Bluetooth 5.2 and maybe even Google Fast Pair and Bluetooth Multipoint.
There is no mention of spatial audio yet and that may put the earbuds at a disadvantage considering this feature is present on rivals such as the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro and AirPods Pro. The earbuds will have touch controls and a companion app where s can change equalizer settings. The source also mentions the Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds II will have six hours of battery life but doesn't specify if that is with ANC turned on or off. When it comes to pricing, the earbuds will reportedly cost $299, compared to the $279 launch price of the previous generation. If this is true, the Quiet Comfort Earbuds II will be $100 more expensive than the Pixel Buds Pro.
