The Game Awards were recently held on December 8th and to no one's surprise Breath of the Wild and will be released on May 12th 2023.
Breath of the Wild continues to be one of the most well-loved Zelda games, and video games in general. The world is wide and vibrant with many discoveries tucked away throughout it. Even players who have crunched dozens of hours into the game and felt that they explored Hyrule completely may have still missed a few well-hidden locations.
Lon Lon Ranch From Ocarina Of Time
The Lon Lon Ranch is a location that players will from various Zelda games. Its first appearance was in Ocarina of Time and was where Link met his trusty mount, Epona. In Breath of the Wild, players can actually find the Lon Lon Ranch at a location called the Ranch Ruins.
This is located east of Mabe Village in Hyrule field. There are a few items to find here, but the best part of this area is simply noticing the reference and letting fans theorize how far into the future they are from Ocarina of Time.
Selmie's Spot For Shield Surfing
Shield Surfing is one of the best features added to Breath of the Wild that brought back memories of Link traveling on ice like a snowboard in one of Twilight Princess.
While players can shield surf anywhere in the game, they can perform challenges at Selmie's Spot to obtain several shields as a reward. This area is easily missable but is located near the Shada Naw Shrine in the Nebra Mountains.
Satori Mountain Where The Lord Of The Mountain Is
Satori mountain is a legendary secret in Zelda, which is named after the late president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, and can regularly be difficult to spot but thankfully sometimes there will be a pillar of a light-blue light shooting up into the sky near Rutile Lake. This is when players should look for the mountain and embark up it.
Here Link will see many blupees and the Lord of the Mountain, a truly one-of-a-kind majestic beast. Link can ride this beast for as long as he wants, but unfortunately, it cannot be ed to keep, and once Link dismounts, it will disappear.
The Gerudo Summit Is the Highest Point In The World
The Gerudo Summit is a location that no Zelda fan should skip. It's located in the Gerudo Highlands and has a shrine near it called the Keeha Yoog Shrine.
Here players can also embark on a side quest called the Forgotten Sword where they must snap a picture of a giant intimidating sword at the summit. In addition to the scenery, players can also fight a White-Maned Lyonel, one of the best enemies and most unusual races in the Zelda franchise.
Lurelin Village Might Be Outset Island
Despite its size, many players have never actually been to Lurelin Village and have no idea what it is. This island is tucked away behind mountains and lies seaside in East Necluda. There are tons of NPCs here that Link can interact with and various side quests to be given.
There is also a Merchant boat and a nice place where Link can spend the night called the Fishing Resort. The best thing about Lurelin Village is its striking resemblance to Outset Island from Wind Waker. It very well might be Outset Island unaffected by the flood that covers Hyrule.
Lover's Pond
Lover's Pond is located on top of Tuft Mountain which can make it a fairly easy location to miss. While following the side quest a Gift of Nightshade is going to make it a bit easier for players to find and gives a bigger story to the pond they can still find this location on their own and be in awe.
An additional nice detail in the game is the pond with a broken-shaped heart located on Ebon Mountain. Sadly, there is an NPC there named Mimos who thought that this was where the actual Lover's Pond was located.
Ganondorf's Horse Roams The Taobab Grassland
The Taobab Grassland is one of the best-hidden locations in one of the best Nintendo Switch games for adults, Breath of the Wild, and can be found in the Gerudo Highlands. An easy way to find this location is by speaking with Straia at the Mounted Archery Camp who will give the player a quest called the Hunt for the Giant Horse.
In this grassland, players will see a massive black horse with a red mane and tail. This horse bears a striking resemblance to Ganondorf and may have been his steed once upon a time. There is also the opportunity for players in the game to find Princess Zelda's horse which is called the White Horse.
Hyrule Castle Underground Where The Hylian Shield Lies
The underground location of Hyrule Castle is a bit more known for players that searched for guides on how to get the Hylian Shield, but it remains one of the most difficult places to actually find. Players can find the Underground by finding an entrance in the east of Hyrule Castle.
Here they'll be led to the Lockup area of the Underground and eventually stumble upon a Stalnox in one of the cells. Killing this Stalnox will then give the player the opportunity to open a chest with the Hylian Shield within.
Players Can Revive Horses At Malayna Spring
This location may initially seem like one of the Great Fairy Springs, but it's actually an entirely different spring with the horse god, Malayna. Malayna can be found at his spring near the Lake of the Horse God.
The first time players discover this spring they should it well because Malayna has the ability to revive any horses that have died. This is a useful part of the game, but players shouldn't let their horses die so easily, after all, it costs 1000 Rupees to revive a horse. Though the way the horse dies will trigger a different conversation with Malayna every time.
Riola Spring Is The Perfect Place To Wait For Farosh
The Riola Spring is oddly one of the least known locations in the game it's here that players need to go because Farosh will come here every morning at 5:00 AM and rise up out of the spring.
Link will be extremely close to him and will be able to fire his arrows readily to farm Fangs, Claws, or Scales easily. This can be located next to Floria Falls and there is plenty of loot around for Link to find too when he's waiting for Farosh to show.
