Season 2 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 adds new content to Zombies, including a new Wonder Weapon you can get and upgrade called the Ice Staff. This tool can freeze enemies with icy projectiles and revive allies to keep them in the fight against hordes of undead. For anyone trying to complete the storyline of the new Tomb map, you'll need this weapon to progress.

Like other Wonder Weapons in CoD: Black Ops 6, the Ice Staff only appears on a single map. In Season 2, this is The Tomb, the newest Zombies map that features dark crypts and bobby-trapped halls of buried skeletons underneath an excavation site. As you may expect, there are several steps you need to complete around The Tomb to obtain the Ice Staff through enemy waves.

How To Get The Ice Staff

Face Off Against A New Threat

You have to pursue vague, smaller tasks to get the Ice Staff, so there aren't any clear instructions provided by the game. Before you can even start searching, you need to be in at least Round 8 of Zombies at The Tomb for the first step to appear. While you could get the Ice Staff from a Mystery Box or Wonderbar Gobble Gum, these only give you a random Wonder Weapon and don't guarantee the Staff.

How To Get Wonder Weapon Swords In Black Ops 6 Zombies

New Wonder Weapon Swords have made their way to BO6 Zombies in Season 1 Reloaded with the Citadelle des Morts map, so here's how to get each one.

Here are the steps you need to follow to craft the Ice Staff:

  1. Kill A Shock Mimic During Round 8 Or Later
  2. Collect The Monocle From The Mimic
  3. Find The Purple Crystal In The Neolithic Catacombs
  4. Use The Crystal To Reveal Symbols Near The Archer Painting
  5. Shoot Runes In Roman Numeral Order
  6. Survive A Lockdown & Collect The Head Piece
  7. Repeat Steps 3-6 Near The Bull Painting
  8. Receive The Staff Part
  9. Use Portals To Enter The Dark Aether Nexus
  10. Place Staff Parts On Stone Altar
  11. Survive Lockdown Waves To Craft Complete Ice Staff

The Shock Mimic is a new type of Zombies enemy in CoD: Black Ops 6 that appears in Season 2. After Round 8 of waves in The Tomb, this creature has a chance of spawning in a variety of places, disguising itself as an ordinary object. The easiest place to find this creature is in the Dark Aether, a place you can access using the Dark Aether Nexus on your map.

Killing a Shock Mimic gives you one of three parts needed to build the Ice Staff - The Monocle. Once you have this item, go to the Neolithic Catacombs in The Tomb until you find a cave painting of an archer along the stone walls. This should be near the Perk-A-Cola machine and Crafting Table in this area.

Season 2 of CoD: Black Ops 6 introduces a new type of Perk-A-Cola flavor called Death Perception. You can get this in The Tomb to help you see enemies through walls in enclosed spaces, which will help you stay alive as you try to get the Ice Staff.

At the Archer painting, you can spot a purple crystal hanging in a lantern above you. Shoot the purple crystal lantern on the ceiling to move it above the Crafting Table in the Neolithic Catacombs. This will reveal several strange symbols along the cave wall that closely resemble Roman Numerals, labeled 1-10.

Shoot each Roman Numeral in order from 1 to 10 to create a constellation pattern on the wall, which the crystal responds to. The crystal will initiate a Lockdown, causing a variety of enemies to spawn, including some tough Armored Zombies you have to defeat. Once you've cleared every wave, the Lockdown will finish and grant you the second staff part - The Head Piece.

If you fail any sort of Lockdown trial during the process of crafting the Ice Staff, don't worry. If you find a way to survive, you can always try again as long as you or your squad hasn't failed the match entirely.

Go back to The Tomb spawn area and travel left instead of right to find another cave painting, this time of a bull. Once again, you'll see a purple crystal above you to reposition until it illuminates the painting on the wall. This will showcase another set of Roman Numerals, which you can shoot from 1-10 to start another Lockdown that rewards you with the final Staff piece when you complete it.

When you have all three staff pieces, find a portal into the Dark Aether. Inside this realm, look for a stone structure near its center with large pillars, floating rocks, and a circular hole within its altar-like formation. Place all three Staff pieces in the Dark Aether altar to initiate a third, challenging Lockdown sequence. As long as you prevent enemies from destroying it, you'll get the Ice Staff by surviving through this Lockdown.

How To Upgrade The Ice Staff

Use Newfound Power Over Ice To Unlock Secrets

Even after you obtain the Ice Staff, you can complete several more small tasks to make it even stronger. As waves of zombies get more challening, your best choice is to upgrade the Ice Staff as soon as you can to prepare it for the undead hordes ahead. Thankfully, you should have good Pack-A-Punch abilities or Field Upgrades in CoD: Black Ops 6 to make this follow-up process a little easier.

To upgrade this Wonder Weapon, follow these steps:

  1. Shoot All Purple Crystals In The Tomb With The Ice Staff
  2. Go Into The Dark Aether Nexus
  3. Shoot Three Glowing Purple Stones Floating In The Sky
  4. Take Note Of What Symbols Are On Each Stone
  5. Find The Teleportation Slab In The Tomb
  6. Shoot Glowing Symbols That Match Ones From Dark Aether Stones
  7. Go Into The Teleporter
  8. Follow The Purple Orb To The Dark Aether Altar
  9. Collect The Upgraded Ice Staff

Your first task is to go around The Tomb and shoot all three purple crystals within a short time of each other. These crystals can be repositioned to make this job easier, but make sure you are doing this using the Ice Staff's ice projectiles only. The moment you get this done, travel to the Dark Aether Nexus and start looking into the sky for your next task.

When in the Dark Aether, you should see several purple glowing stones among the rubble in the air. Shoot the purple stones to lower them down to where you can see them better. Before they can float back up, memorize the symbols on them, either by taking a screenshot or recording them in some way.

The Dark Aether Nexus is a reflection of The Tomb itself, having the same layout. The three floating purple stones are reflective of the purple crystals you shot earlier, so they should be in the same positions as you left them.

When Archibald starts talking, move on to find a teleportation wall in the Dark Aether. Since The Tomb reflects the Dark Aether Nexus' layout, you can go and find another teleportation wall in the "real world." On the teleportation wall, there are tons of symbols, but all you need to do is use the Ice Staff to shoot the symbols you saw from the floating rocks in the Dark Aether.

Why Remastered Maps Won't Work in Black Ops 6 Zombies

Zombies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has modernized the game mode, which makes it ill-suited to the maps from older releases in the series.

At this point, the teleporter will activate, creating a glowing portal you can walk through. Go through the portal, then interact with a purple orb on the other side as you enter the Dark Aether Nexus again. Doing this will cause the orb to move, so follow it using any weapon in CoD: Black Ops 6 you have, but always with the Ice Staff in hand.

As you follow the orb, you will be hounded by tons of Zombies trying to knock you away from the floating purple object. As you defeat multiple high-level Zombies along the way, your Operator will follow the orb closer and closer to the altar where you got the Ice Staff in the first place. At the Dark Aether Nexus altar, allow the orb to enter the center of the structure before placing the Ice Staff on the altar to upgrade it.

What The Ice Staff Does

Use Upgrades To Damage Enemies And Revive Allies

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 using the Ice Staff to freeze horde of Zombies

The Ice Staff can shoot ice projectiles to freeze enemies but also use a large AoE attack to damage/freeze several enemies around your Operator. This secondary attack takes some time to charge up though, so make sure you're capable of pulling it off without dying. When upgraded, these abilities are even stronger, dealing more damage and freezing tougher enemies faster.

The upgraded version of the Ice Staff is called Ull's Arrow, which has its own properties but many of the same abilities as the original Wonder Weapon.

The weapon also has an alternate firing mode called Sekhmet's Vigor, which allows you to revive allies instantly. By shooting a downed ally with this shot, they can get up right away. However, you have to actively switch to this firing mode to use it, so you can't deal damage and revive allies using the same shots from the Staff.

While it may take a ton of steps to unlock and upgrade this weapon, the Ice Staff is one of the strongest tools you can have. For finding every Easter Egg on The Tomb map in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, getting the Ice Staff is almost a requirement.
