Activision has officially revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and it will feature a name that longtime fans of the franchise will recognize. The title will continue the Black Ops arm of the Call of Duty series, which focuses on elite forces carrying out covert operations. This time, though, it seems that the game will be taking the traditionally historic location into a brand new setting.

Black Ops 7 was revealed as part of the Xbox Games Showcase today, and it will merge the old with the new through the return of a familiar face. The trailer revealed that David Mason, the protagonist of Black Ops 2, will make a return in the next game in the franchise. Mason will be ed by the second Black Ops game's antagonist—in a setting that hints at coming changes to the franchise.
